Hi
I'm not sure if I can't search properly on the forum but I couldn't find any threads that will actually tell me what I need to know.
Only found some information on google and I am not sure if that is correct either.
So here goes;
What are the measurements for alloy wheel fitments for mk2?
The information I found on google says 4x100, ET35-42, centre bore 57.1
is this correct?
Also what is the optimum size for alloys? 15" Im guessing...
And the maximum size?
Thanks

Yes, you're right with the information you found.
As for wheel size, anything from 13"-17" will fit, dependant on the size of the brakes.
IIRC, I think the smallest an 8v gti can get is 14", they need about a 60 profile tyre, so they will look 'balloony'.
17s will look ridiculous.
I'd say 15s are best for a mk2, 16s can look really good too, take Mr. Blue's as an example

15" wih 195/50/15's is the best choice really.

Or 185-55-15's if you want to keep OEM.

Thanks for the replies, been very helpful.
What sort of rim width would best?

Most choice and definitely the way to go.
I run Team Dynamics wheels as they're 6.6kg vs some of the VW OEM wheels, which are around 9kg.
