Anyone ever bought any car parts from ebay?
I've bought cd's but wondered if anyone has any experience of car bits, both good and bad.
-
bought a gearknob. :) there are good deals on there. not sure i would buy anything big or expensive tho'

Bought a MK2 front grill with spotlights and upper/lower spoilers fitted and sprayed red (originally bought from from Dubwieser). Arrived well packaged and in excellent condition.
Straight swop for existing grill, so instant easy mod. for ?35!
Also bought Golf Haynes manual for ?7.50 and H&R lowering springs (-40mm) for ?40.
In my experience so far, there are definatly bargains to be had. ;)
-
I haven't bought anything for my car, bit I've bought some bits for the missus's Bimmer (clear indicators, repeaters, light clusters etc).
All were spot on, no problems.
I would have no qualms at all about using ebay. My only advice is to keep an eye on the seller rating - try and stick to sellers who have sold to a decent number of people within the last 6 months, with a very high (95% plus) rating.
-
Ive bought and sold a few bits on there, havent had any probs, good for trim bits etc!
-
i recently bought a fuel filler neck for my scirroco the
dealers wanted ?160 i got it privately for ?48 i think so you can definately save some cash :)
-
Hi,
bought everything from new seats (for that old Mk2 bolster problem) to cyl head, injectors, gear box, suspension kit.
No problems, except I still have to fit most of it :-(
Main thing is compare the price with a second hand place (e.gt. volks-apart)
as sometimes the bidding gets a bit too enthusiastic.

I bought my whole GTI cabrio off ebay!!
-
Nice cab ;D
-
How did you go about it though?
I mean I would be scared to bid on something that I cant see properly.
Did you inspect the car before bidding on it?
-
Thats a fine looking motor.........glad to see a few more pictures starting to appear in members 'signatures'. ;D

Me and my house mate are planning on sell a load of parts on Ebay, all will priced acording to state, if you need anything being a fellow GolfGTI member I'm sure we can strike a very good deal, only thing there all MK2 parts..... Mail me if you need anything, mac6967@hotamil.com ...
-
What about your mk1 mate, that looks ready for ebay or the scrappy! :-*
-
It may well be mate but its a Campaign WITH a DX engine, its worth holding onto if nothing else.... Can't believe how jelous you are, just cos you have a computer for a car.... ;) Still gonna WHIP ya ;D
-
Jealous of what?
-
Me.... Having an original and not a make shift ;)
-
Original scrap :-*
-
Time will be the true test - Will the VR6 create the same desire and capture the imagination in 15 - 20 years, just as the Mk1 has.
I remember drooling over a friends Mk1 back in the 80's. when I was a kid. I have to be honest and say the VR6 just cant compete ;)
-
I think the mk2 is far more desireable than the mk1 ::)
-
Well thats very surprising considering your age GolfVR6.... Each to thair own mate...
-
Fair play mate. Modulator still got the mk2 16v i sold him a few years back, its still mint and goes like a rocket! :D Being honest i've always preferred the mk2 shape to the mk1, not knocking the mk1 but each to their own. :-*
-
I'm after an original front panal for a MK2 golf. Let me know if you have one MK1 boy.
Is your campaign in helios blue?
-
Its suposed to be helios blue but some dick B4 me had it sprayed kind of matt black... Looks bad arse but wannaget it sprayed original colour... Which panel do you mean??
GolfVR6 - Mk 2 are nice but they were allot bigger, MK1 is small sexy boxy and light, beautiful.... 8)
-
If you say so :-*
-
old rattly box :-*
-
I'm after the slam panel that has the bonnet lock in it, mine was replaced when I had accident damage repaired and they fitted a pattern one that is terrible.
I've always liked the helios blue campaigns, first time the colour was available so very rare.
-
Think I have that part, will ck tomorrow and let you know....
-
I personally still have a soft spot for the MK1 Scirocco. Best looking VW ever in my eyes.
-
I have a rating of 96 with a 98.7% postive feedback rating.I would recommend it as there's just about anything you can imagine on there. If you have the winning bid it is a binding contract but if you arrive and the goods arn't as described then you can opt out. With all the dealing i have only come across a couple of muppets. If your not sure then use the "ask the seller a question" bit and if it's local go and have a look.Go on give it a try..........................be warned though,it will become addictive!!!!!!! :D
-
I keep seeing rallye leather steering wheels on there and thought about buying one. I might go it a go.
-
I've just bought a streeing wheel of e-bay the nite so i am quite looking forward to that parcel arriving! ;D It can become additive like, but there are def bargins to be had if you set yourself an absolute price limit!

I have bought all sorts of things from ebay. from parts for my car to guitars and have only been burned once. pretty good reputation I would say. :)
-
I was thinking of trying ebay myself. Bidding for cheap cars is very appealing ;D
-
That it is. My wife usually has to confiscate my bank card, credit cards, and check book when I am looking at cars there. My problem is I see so many "good" deals. Then I see a car I had as a kid or one that I wanted as a kid. Dangerous place.
-
Its seeing Polos starting bidding at a ?1 , if only! :-\
-
Yeah the chance of buying a car for under a fiver sounds mental but worth it for a chuckle.
-
Ahhhh, bliss, a thread about ebay!!! ;D
I buy and sell loads on there. Carparts I buy are usually badges for the DUBs (little blighters keep nicking them off my car) and I did buy a corrado grill (even tho I dont have a corrado......yet he he he)
A coupe of mates have bought cars off there, personally I think you just need to know what you are buying and read all the description. There is a facility to 'ask seller a question' also, which is often invaluable when buying stuff.
Basically, the rule of the bay is if it sounds too good to be true...it probably is!!!

I'm in the process of putting together a MKII for track use and have sourced just about everything except the shell and engine from e-bay with no probs. The only words of advice i can offer is not to get carried away. Whilst trying to get hold of the seats, a number of auctions went for close or over what you could source new for! eg a pair of sparco sprint's going for ?235 when you can get them from demon theives for ?95 +VAT each. I eventually got a pair of virtually new Sparco speed's with runners for ?150 where you would pay that for each one and then ?20 odd for the runners. Lovely in bright scarlet!
