What engines are in these S TDIs?
Insurance is cheap on an S or an SE TDI, GT TDI or match TDI = ££££££.
Pretty much definately getting one. Going to have about £2k to spend on one but would push more if it's worth it. Currently got £1500 spare for a car and could push it round to have up to £4 but would rather save a bit more.
Plus will get a grand for a Micra I bought.
But yeah what to look out for and what sorta mileage is scary on these cars?
Thanks!

From my limited knowledge the s are pretty flat and under powered but as you say cheap so ideal for what you need
Should be good for over 200k if serviced properly
Usual mk4 problems Plastic Window reg clips, Leaking rear washer, Worn axel / front wishbone / dogbone bushes Faulty door modules to name a few

OK thanks.
Is it not the same engine? Although I've found SE 130 TDI 6 speed is pretty cheap to insure so wondering whether to go for an estate.
Do the later MK4's suffer from the same electrical/comfort control issues the older ones did?
Should be a pretty cheap reliable car that I won't fettle with too much. The lowered MK3 has it's place but on the motorway it's a b!tch.

Something like this:

I want a black one though but might just wrap it.
