Wha' gwaan,
Just after a bit of info on the above procedure as I'm planning to get my mk3 lowered at the end of the month and want rid of the arch trims at the same time. I know I need to get hold of a set of non-GTI side trims is there anything elseI should be aware of? Mine's a early spec 8v, are the wheel arch trims riveted and bonded on or just riveted? Anyone any idea how much I should be paying for a 2nd-hand set of the non-GTI side trims? I heard somewhere that scrappy's are charging upto £100 for a set :shocked:ÂÂÂ
Any advice greatly appreciated folks,
Take it easy,
VanishÂÂÂ

The arch trims are riveted on , just drill them out ,the backs will fall off the fronts are also fixed with a grommet type plug behind the bumpstrip part which should just pull off.
Is it a 5 door ? If so Ive got a vento with the GL spec door bump strips in good nick and I'm in the process of turning it in to GTI spec .
Maybe we could do a SWAP or PX ?

Sorry dude, mine's a 3 door. Thanks for the info though!
Any other 3dr non-GTI owners out there planning a GTI look-a-like who are willing to swap? You can have mine and I'll throw in the wheel arch trims too!
PM me with price, your location and P&P charge if you can help.
Thanks,

Just last night I spent half an hour taking the trim off my 3 door GTI.
Drill the three rivits heads off from around each arch (remove wheels obviously to do this!) and gently pull from top to loosen, then pull directly from wings (as this is where there is a clip) They come away very easily. I also removed my side skirts (as they looking tired) they are screwed on, but under you have to remove some other plastic which leaves the sticy stuff behind so a good hour or so more needed to get rid if that. the car looks much smoother but I'm contemplating putting some fibreglass sideskirts on which I have.
I now also need the side trim for the wings! I reckon a decent scrappie will sell you the wing trim for about £10. Doubt they'd sell for £100. I could source a knackered mk3 for that price!
