Title: heater cold (now updated)
Post by: gavgtiturbo on 30 December 2011, 15:42
As titled my heater is blowing cold air and sometimes warm (mostly cold).
Checked the water pump today by taking the top hose off the expasion tank with engine running and got a steady flow of water back to the tank(if i rev the flow is stronger).
The bottom hose from the thermostat to the rad is getting hot when the thermostat opens and top hose to the rad is getting hot as normal.(thermostat is 3 months old).
The 2 pipes that go through the bulk head to the heater matrix are hot.
The pollen filter is new.
Theres no temp issues at all(stays at 90)
There is no water in the front carpets(so i dont think the matrix has gone).
When the heater is on and i push the buttons to direct the air flow from say floor to windscrean it doesnt seem to do much.   Any one got any ideas ???? its a 1.8t agu   if i dont sort this soon im just going to break it as im at a loss.

Im pretty sure its not the control unit as it goes hot sometimes and then starts blowing cold,if it was this it would more than likely be stuck on one setting.

Heater flap motors or popped off linkages if it not doing much from what you say it could be a good possibility
