Hi everyone,
recently purchased my first Golf a 97 GTI 8v, however the garage i bought it from are collecting it again as it will start but wont tick over, also when i move the steering wheel to a different position the electrics go off. Think i may be asking a lot of q's on here over the next few weeks. Any advise greatly appreciated as im not a mechanic. sometimes when the ignition is on there is a clicking sound in the dash, and it sounds like a pump is whirring at the rear of the car.

The garage are confident that the starting issue is the fuel pump and said the electric problem can be resolved. Granted its not a good start to my VW ownership but the car was only £750.

i use to own a ford xr3i (had to start some where) and when i turned the steering wheel to far it would turn the car off i had so much fun it turned out to be the ignition wires they had been joined together by twisting them together, due to the last owner taking a alarm off.

Had an XR3i many moons ago, loved it at the time, lol. Whilst looking around i had the chance of a 95 gti 16v for same money but the 200k mileage put me off, may have made a mistake.
