chaps,
apart from finding adapters for the wheels to fit,
realistically can you have them as a every day set of wheels??
would you have any problems having them on a car that will be lowered 30mm max??
somthing like this
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/19-BMW-original-Borbet-X5-sport-alloy-wheels-tyres-/130620313522?pt=UK_CarParts_Acc_Wheels_tyres_Rims_Car_Wheels_ET&hash=item1e6993cfb2
think patch had them on his mk4
-
Patch had something else.
Subject to clearance yes but 19"s will give you very little comfort.
-
plus to make them look good you need air i was going to do the same think look for kamadi online and yoy will see his mk4 jazz blue one
-
dont you need to roll the arches too? sure there was a thread on this a while ago, and once you factor in everything it was quite expensive iirc.

ah yes patch had vmr's
i only thought of x5 wheels as they are pretty cheap.
i cant understand why you need to roll the arches when other 19" u dont
-
cause the offset and being 10 j wide on the rear and you will need a decent stretch on the tyre lol

Patches old wheels was BMW CSL reps and his new ones was miro 111's
Ive got Vmr/raderwerks/Advant (all the same)
You need arch work done due to the width of the wheel and the bmw offsets
-
Bricey they will be a nightmare over here....
-
X5 Wheels work on a TT, Especially once its on air

cheers guys
i look for different wheels lol
-
rota gtrs haha
-
i would but think dave_iow is getting some
plus it would cost over a grand for tyres aswell
-
he getting the gts is he haha
-
for IOW don't you need 14's with 75 profile tyres
-
Yeah we do, $hitty roads
-
I have driven over there on 195/50/15's on a 40mm lowered mk2 before and didn't think I was gonna make it back to the ferry with all my trim attached
-
My brother in law runs 35 profiles on his Focus over here
-
roads are awful
iow council=
-
it's ok though cos they've just installed a new crossing 10metres down from another set to cross the SAME road
Just happens to be outside the Council offices too
-
i have just taken a set off my mk4
you dont need any arch work unless stupid low i was running -50mm with only scrubbing on harsh dips, and thats with 255 on the rear not a stupid stretch 225, with standard camber aswel
i think 4mos are lower as standard so maybe equal to 60mm for a gti
i fitted coilovers and wound it down to around 80mm and thats when they started scrubbing on front and rear, but i ran 1.5 degrees rear camber, standard on a 4mo as far as im aware, and no arch work

They stick out too far on the front for my liking :undecided:
-
Each to there own, i do like them just im going bit turbo in my 4motion and dont see the point in spending thousands on it to lose power down to wheel weight, they are heavy compared to my standard 16's

Weight is one reason I really like my pro race 1.2's 18" and only 9kg each, it drives so much better than it did with the much heavier BBS reps.
-
Yeah i think the cupras weigh in at 10.6kg, i would like some oz allegrita (bad spelling) but cost a small fortune with tyres! I like the pro race 1.2 and not mega expensive

I was very lucky in finding a s/h set, they are not that easy to find s/h, new I think they are around £600 a set.
-
im keeping my eye out for a set of second hand ultraleggeras! can tuk some decent brakes behind them aswel
-
ultralegerras have to be the best weight to cost ratio wheels, shame they are a bit ugly!
-
Yeah they look well just not on mk4s, i like ch's but bbs dont even know the real weight of them and abit common
-
I bet real ch's are light enough, just very expensive and like you say common looking because of the amount of cheap sh!tty replicas.
I remember seeing a round of the vw cup, maybe 2007, and half of the grid were using ch's.
-
They quote there 11.8kg in 18x8.0 last time i looked i think, but cupras are 10.5kg and get a refurbed set for £330 no tyres
