Title: Fuse box - permanent power?
Post by: Belix on 28 December 2011, 11:56
Folks, anyone know which sections of the fuse box have permanent power? Trying to retrofit PDC and rear camera and need to add a fuse for each.
Can't get at the &*(*&(*& screw near the clocks to remove the dash panel to get access to the fuse box. &&&((!!!!!

I hope this works as I'm typing on my iPhone and it's costing me about £4 per megabyte!

Here is a photo of when I put a road pilot in my MK5 - but I don't know if the fuse box is identical.
Just stick a multimeter in the blanks until you find one that's powered!

thanks! I thought all the top bits had power but from your pic I saw only a couple extra have an exisiting top in already.
Hmm, I need three more fuses, and seems like only 1 is available.

Wonder how you add more?

Some details lower down this page (http://www.my-gti.com/601/addition-of-extra-circuits-to-the-volkswagen-golf-jetta-passat-eos-scirocco-rabbit-fuse-box). on adding a new fused circuit.

One thing they mention is to remove all fuses before adding the new circuit
I haven't done this the last two times I added  a new circuit and it doesn't seem to matter, forgot the first time  :undecided:
