Title: help!!pls heater blows hot & cold

hi got a mate whos got this prob with his mk 4 golf,  noticed that when the heater is set on high temp,it blows hot air when car on the move but as soon as he stop and engine ideing, then heater starts to blow cold air ....when he pulls of again heater starts to blow hot air .....so on and so on can anyone tell me what the problem is thx dudes :cry:

Usually other way round but check system bled properly and no leaks and there's flow at header tank. If all ok put stat and switch in not expensive.

is he noticing any problems with the temp going up and down? Could be a sign on needing a new water pump as the fins may be knackered and its not circulating the coolant round the system when at stand still but when moving there may be enough to circulate some coolant round the system
