Been speaking to a friend off mine who is in the LCR seen, he has stage 2+ running revo maps, he swears by them, and is trying to make me get one! He knows I'll be getting on in the new year and insists Revo would be the best for my DERV. I have my heart set on an Rtech custom map as I haven't heard a bad thing about them also car inspection, RR before and after etc etc. With a revo map you get none of this, they just 'generically' map it.
What would be the difference between a generic revo map and an Rtech one. As I have heard that revo maps are the most 'aggressive' and if your engine isn't all up together pipes will blow off, leaks here, leaks there...Now my engine has done 115k and am not sure if my engine is all up together after all those miles!
I am only considering the revo as you get an SPS controller thrown in, which my mate will buy off me for a £100 see...

R-tech all the way.

R-Tech do their own Remaps and REVO, give them a call, tell them what you want and I'm sure they'll recommended the right one for you.

Iv had both on 2 differnt cars!
Id say r tech ! If your close, it seems stupid not to!
Its not all aboutbthe money its about the health of the engine etc!

RTech are awesome with what they know which is remapping and they never give up if theres a problem they will hunt it down so either they can replace it or you can.. most places just flash a revo map onto the car and if it goes pop so be it aslong as the profit margins are met.. Like said above go to RTech as they are REVO dealers they can flash one to your car see if you like it and then put a RTech map onto the car to show you the difference it will be night and day..
-
As above rtech is your best bet nick is an awesome guy and will work with you to meet your needs and his after care is awesome i can tell you I'm a customer for life I wouldnt look at taking me car anywhere else in fact now I fitted the k04 I'm going to be going back for the custom mapping and leaving the car in his care

This reinforced my original thoughts, Rtech it is. So freeeking exicted. Just got my decat to day aswell :)

Just make sure all your pipework is in good working order; the 150's (I'm assuming you have that) leak for fun :lipsrsealed:

And make sure the correct size C clips are on the correct pipes.......So you dont do a StevePD and have to use 6mm thick cable ties to hold the pipes on for 12 months...

Ive have 2 AUM Golf GTIs at the moment. One has a Remap Science remap the other a Revo, and I cant tell much difference between them.
I didn't use Rtech because they only have 1 map and that is for super unleaded.
As I am not chasing BHP at a cost of travelling miles to find a 98 ron fuel supplier, I opted for these 2.
Remap Science is a custom map, and the Revo map can be tweeked slightly once installed on the car.
Ive used Revo on 2 Golf Mk4 AUMs, and think they are great.
It took Remap Science 2 attempts to get the map right, as it was loosing boost over 3000 revs. All sorted now though.

Rtech would map it fine.... You just see better results with super due to less knock allowing more timing advance to make power

Well when I asked Rtech I was told there remap is for super unleaded only, and then said I shouldn't map it for 95ron because it would damage my engine... which is rubbish.
What they meant was they cant map my car for 95 ron because they have 1 map, and its for 98 ron. Simples

i think r -tech know a bit more about these engines and mapping them than yourself

Engine would run fine on 95. The reason they recommend 98 or super is because it allows more timing and is generally safer as the engine does t 'knock' retard timing and power drops. If you want a quick car you gotta put the right stuff on it. Super only about 3p per litre more and over a tank it's about 30-50p max for a much better, smoother running motor

cant really show you it   an is 300bhp all they got from the gt28

Find the guy with, my 300-r tech agu

I got a R-tech map 241bhp I would recommend them all day long. Revo is way to aggressive especially stage 1 plus its not custom to your car. So many variables.

I know this, but its not available near me, and as I say I am not chasing max BHP figures. Ive just got rid of a Legacy B4 RSK jap import and was fed up with buying only Optimax or Tesco 99.

You may joke, but I asked a serious question in an email. "Can you map a Golf GTI AUM, but for 95 Ron fuel?" The answer that it will damage the engine is rubbish. Its actually already mapped to run on 90 ron if you read the fuel specification for this model. So whoever answered that email clearly didn't know more than me, and was trying to sell me a 98 romn map, as that's all they do. It would of been ok, as the car will compensate I just wont make the stated max figures, but I don't like being treated like a fool, so went elsewhere. Don't believe the hype

R-tech don't have 1 individual map they create complete custom maps and that's why with some "creative set ups they hae the car for a week to ensure they can tweek it too perfection
The reason they say they don't map with 95 Ron is because they would rather not as it isn't as safe.
Anyone can map 95 Ron but it just means there is more chance if knock occuring and possibly bending a rod and then they would get the blame saying it was mapped crap.
They are more bothered about making the best and safest maps and customer satosfaction the. Making a quick quid like the big companies such as revo.
The same as when they get a car in that as a bodge everywhere you look. They refuse to map it, not because they can't but because they don't want to as its bound to go wrong and try will be blamed!
Whereas you take the same car to revo and they will map it without even lifting the bonnet and make some £££'s
Have whatever opinion you like....but I'm just saying...... It's wrong haha

Coincidence or not? But looks like my turbo is gone on the Revo mapped car
The wife was driving it, and its squeeling like a pig now.
Will be getting the sump off to check the oil pick up pipe is clear when I get a new turbo.

Them crazy women drivers, should have seen mine with my golf.... Very scary moment for me.

 Actually she said "There's a wind noise when I do 90 mph", I drove it next day and it screams immediately the boost is up. These things happen I suppose, and I am aware of the extra loadings on engine components when its mapped.
Having said that I don't know how its been driven for the last 73000 miles, so I cant blame the remap completely. If the oil feed pipe has blocked then that will cause it, so I will be looking at that.

A few years ago she had a Mini cooper S JCW, which was 210bhp standard. I couldn't keep with her on the bends in my Scooby wrx I had at the time, that thing just stuck to the road, and with her driving
