merry christmas chaps,

im picking up my mk2 gti next week and have already dropped engine and box out of my mk4 1.8t agu.

my job for jan is to do the conversion, but i would like to keep the mk4 box 02j i no this is possible but does anyone no a in depth parts list id need and a guide to do it.

all help would be appreciated

Should be fine, although you'll need to sort out something to drive the speedo electronically as IIRC the 02J has no speedo drive. 

Is the unit you have 5 or 6 speed?  If it's only 5-speed an 02A would be fine instead - definitely has the mechanical speedo drive on it.

Make sure you have the mounting lugs on the 02J as well - there should be a pair of bolt holes on top of the unit at the end furthest from the engine.

i didnt think the o2j was a straight bolt up thought that was only the o2a ??

I don't think there's any bolt-pattern difference, but you need to make sure there are the mounts for the Golf2/3 type mounts as well as pendulum (Golf4 type) mounts.

adaptor mount arm to bolt a pendulum mount box upto mk2/3 mounts is basic fabrication
