I have been trying to sort out boost leaks recently, and starting to go
First it was leaking going into the intercooler, so sfs pipes from turbo to intercooler ordered. Sorted the problem for about a week, then the leak moved to the other side of the intercooler. So bent over and ordered the rest of the sfs pipes, fitted them this morning and it turns out the outlet on the intercooler is actually cracked so as soon as you go on boost the pipe pops off.
Just phoned GSF and they don't sell the 150 intercooler, so what are the options for a replacement? Knowing vw prices are any aftermarket ones an option that take away the need for those sh!tty joins?
-
Allard, but be prepared to bend over again
Scrappy.
Seat dealer will be cheaper than VW
Failing that a universal one may fit with a bit of fiddling.
-
Thinking about it a standard one will probably be a better idea as I don't intend on tuning this engine beyond a basic remap
I'll enquire at seat then, seems they are pretty much £300 from vw
these pd150's are a pain in the ass!
right where are those zip ties and self tappers........
-
haha mine is held together with self tappers :lipsrsealed:
You got the full sfs kit? including the pancake pipe?
Got any photos of it, I got a full set sat here waiting to go on sometime :lipsrsealed:
-
BTW hope you got 25% off the list price for stating ukmivs?
-
yep got the 25% off, I have the full kit now for the standard pancake pipe. Its a very tight fit into the standard pancake pipe so I don't think the aftermarket one is necessary tbh
Will go out and take a pic in a minute, although it did come with a pic of it all installed. There are no provisions for securing any of the pipes though so I'm gonna make some sort of brackets to hold it all to the original mounting points. Be wary of stuff rubbing against the pipes as well! I have rotated jubilee clips, wrapped stuff in inner tubes etc
Did yours come with little bolts for the sensor? Mine's zip tied on at the moment (can you see a theme here? )
-
Good news on the discount
I got mine second hand so got no photos or bolts just a load of pipes and clips...
My original pancake pipe is split where the clip goes which is the reason I got this kit.
What happens to the vacuum ball at the front of the engine which is mounted to the old pipework?
-
The vacuum ball is wedged in at the moment. Some sort of bracket will have to be made!
Ok i'll get hold of sfs and find out the thread size for securing the sensor and let you know.
It all looks like this atm, but there's loads more tinkering to do to install it all properly.

The pipe into the egr delete could be a bit longer and it throws the pipe running along the rocker cover out a bit, its probably ok with the standard egr though
