Title: Ford KA - changing headlight bulbs?
Post by: golf-sib on 22 December 2011, 22:06
How do you change the headlight bulbs in a KA, I had an attempt followed by a read up and seeing as a few on here have KA's I wanted to know whats the easiest way to change the main beam on drivers side.

This I think but an easy bumper.

UNLESS you have like an access panel in the arch sheild. Pretty sure they don't though. 3 10mms holding the headlight it.

I was not hoping it was this, any idea what size bulb is the main, few forums say h7 for main beam for driving, but it doesn't look at all like a h7, far smaller.

Where's the third bolt, I was able to access the one on top of the headlight, there's one hidden behind the grill which I was able to access by taking 3 screw out the grill and gently flexing it back. Where's the last on, behind bumper, in arch?

IIRC, not done one for some years, but, put steering on full lock, one way or the other gets you best access, remove a couple of Torx bolts from the inner wheel arch liner, and pull it out the way, this will reveal the back of the headlamp, change bulb required... 20 min job at home, or should take a garage 5 mins on a ramp...

Don't think you can do it on one side, IIRC it's the passenger side you can't get to like that.

Apparently most fords are a pain to change bulbs, new fiesta and the mondeo from a read around. Once its paid of she can trade it in for a Polo tfsi :)

Can't wait to see the day when the ka is gone, even though its only done 20k in 3.5 years.

I've changed them on an X-reg KA. PITA, but easy enough if you have the patience.  Open then bonnet and try to get your fingers round the release clips on the back of the bulbs.

Slot in and out.
