Title: What a fun filled week thus far. VW style.
Post by: Ninja on 22 December 2011, 20:35
So, we go to pick up my missus new car (well, new to her.)

We decide on a 6n2. Relatively high miles, but FSH. Car is immaculate. The clutch feels nice, although the gears are a little sloppy. The gearbox was replaced 2-3 years ago, however. So I put it down to sloppy linkages.

Now the fun starts.

On the way home, about 40 mins into the journey, my missus realises her clutch has become stiff and "creaky." Not fun! Then, 5th gear pops out. Oh sh!t.
Next? The temp gauge reads zero! Hmm, I think.. best change the stat and the temp sensor.

So, a few days later I drain the coolant, change the stat and the temp sensor and all is well. A job well done, infact. Or not.

I notice the fan does not kick in, and the temperature keeps climbing with no hot air in the cabin. Bizzare. I did bleed the coolant system. Lots of head scratching involved at this point. Then, I notice that if the car is revved, the temp inside the car rises and the temp gauge drops... Odd?

Right, so I give up. Now the car reaches a max of 85 temperature, but drops to 0 when driving. Next up her window reg starts playing up.

And finally, last but not least, my window reg in my MK4 full on f**ked itself in the ass. Window dropped, manage to stop if from falling all the way into the frame. Then I got out of the car, closed the door and bang. Window inside frame.

After all this, guess who texts me?

"Merry Christmas from VW"

I sh!t you not.
