Title: better late than never...

hello there, i came across this site last night after picking up a 16v at the weekend.

always wanted one when i was younger because all my mates had them. finally got one, more than 20 years later. i know bugger all about cars but hopefully with a haynes manual, the search function on this site and a little help (when needed) i can finally get my hands dirty. decided to go for a very good condition, small bumper, F reg, sub 90000 miles model. it's un-molested and has been well looked after before i got hold of it. the previous owner called it "PAB" (after the reg plate) and i will too.

i've had a succession of boring cars because i drive a van all week and couldn't be bothered with a weekend car...until now. i can honestly say it's the most fun i've had driving since i passed my test. had to drive 110 miles back from solihull with it and enjoyed every second. even taken it out for a spin these last few nights because i can't wait for the weekend!

now then, does this happen to any other people on here (because it sure as hell spooked me)? the few times i've been out i seem to be a magnet for every 206 gti/st170/corsa etc, even a lexus is300. it's not like i'm looking for a race but out of nowhere these cars find me. they follow me to a set of lights and...well, i think they're expecting "the fast and the furious" or something.

so anyway, i'm not a mad fatherless son but i couldn't resist. the only one that took me was a new focus st but that has 220bhp! don't think i'll do it again but for a few nights it was fun.

i'll post some pictures in the mk2 section when i upload to photobucket. they were taken by the bloke who sold it to me when the weather was better.  :smiley:
