Can any one confirm it's best NOT two cover freshly painted body work with a car cover for at least 3months? :undecided:
-
i would think so

Reason?

paint needs time to settle does it not  prob same reason u dont wash it either ryt away
-
I would have thought 3 months is excessive. After a month or so it should be fine.

Okay it's just i had a full front respray on Saturday done by my brother in law who has been painting for well over 10 years and on sunday i wend down to help put bumper ect back together and then he jet washed it for me as it was coverd in white powder after being mopped? But i was thinking about buying a car cover as the weather is sh*t down here? :undecided:

Birmingham id UP to me!

I would get a really good quality car cover it if its outside in the elements. Cheap covers will scratch the paintwork as it chafes with the movement.

Do not cover fresh paint with any type of cover for a least 3 months! Covers can either react with the paint, or synthetic covers can eat into the paint, we have a cover for our Lola T70 that cost well over a grand, that did untold damage to paint that was 6months old at least! Luckily I was able to flat and polish the damage out, had it been a base and lacquer, it would have been ruined!

I will be defo waiting then till i cover her up

Although leaving it outside to bare the winter elements won't do it much good either.
-
That's why iv decided to leave it at works underground car park

Covers are bad news to new or old paint if used for long periods

yup, my uncles e46 bmws faint faded and rust started forming on the bonnet, was a cheap cover either, bought it from halfords. when he looked online apparently there was LOADS of cars it was happening to.
and paint still cures for months after its been applied, just cos it feels dry doesnt mean its not still giving off moisture
