Right, got the spanners out today and thought i'd make a start after fitting BAM fuel pump.
Un-wired subs and amps, never to go back in
Took up boot carpet and removed spare wheel.
Bolted pump into spare wheel well.
Bolted tank onto rear seats, didn't enjoy putting holes into leather Recaro seats but oh well
Connected them both up with the push fit connections, very easy.
I was going to use the washer bottle in engine bay, but decided, that runs out quick enough anyway and i had a tank so might aswell use it :afro:
Im going to get a level sensor and screw that into tank to warn me when its getting low.
Next was deciding where to run the pipework, didnt really want it running through car, so underneath it had to go, following the fuel lines.
I poked a hole in one of the bungs in wheel well and pushed the line through.
That was the boot part done for now, bar wiring, which i will tackle later.
Boot carpet back in and looks pretty tidy!
Left enough room for small amp, incase i want to amp all four door speakers later on again if i get pi55ed off at no music  no subs ever again though.
Next ran it down drivers side of the car, past rear ARB and to the first bit of fuel line i could find, and zip-tied to that
After that there was a spare rail with all the others running up so clipped it along there..
From the back you can see where it runs, the bit that looks 'looped out' and waggling about isn't actually like that, thats where i first tied it too, and isn't flapping about atall lol
Finally, im not sure what that 'box' is underneath car about halfway back, but it had wiring running to engine bay, so followed that, just as it pokes into engine bay has inline filter, and the hose is left ready for when inlet manifold goes on.
Engine bay filthy as usual but you can see hose ready to be attached
And here is a picture of inlet manifold to go on, which will be final stage when i have installed the level sensor and programmed the progressive controller in.
Just the wiring to do now, which looks pretty simple, then buy some meth and some distilled water :afro:
-
nice install :O no sub! :O
my amp died when i put it in the white golf! and still aint got another amp  does my nut
and that engine bay really needs a wash :O thats terrible!
-
I only ever turn the stereo on to listen to Chris Moyles on way to work, and Scott Mills on way home, 10 mins each way!
Plus them subs were HEAVY, cant be helping with acceleration
-
i guess! i have a stubby areal so its ipod only for me and all i listen to is drum and bass! im waiting till i got enough to do a full install!
-
nice work dave, but take the pipe off your anti roll bar! how much did you pay for the kit by the way?.
-
what the hell is this anyway?? Oh and get off them yellow lines
-
nice work dave, but take the pipe off your anti roll bar! how much did you pay for the kit by the way?.
Loads of slack bud and left zip tie loose, was hard to find somewhere to attach it too
Price... £240 delivered with the tank :afro:
-

Cools intake temps down and allows timing advance!
Kerb + 2 axle stands = 4 post lift
-
nice work mate loving this
-
looks good mate, what sort of gains do you expect to see?
-
Be interesting to see the gains.
What wiring is there?
Is the methanol expensive?
-
Methanol is £25 for 25litres, eBay.
Distilled water, cheap.
Apparently a 4litre container will last roughly a whole tank of petrol.
Won't be that much really.
Gains...? Unsure.
Lower temps and bit more advance, maybe 5-10hp for £5 per tank full of petrol can't be that bad..
-
Oooo, just depends whether it needs to be mapped on a rolling road or tweaks can be done from vagcom logs.
Only thing is the setup isnt cheap :(
-
Indeed, im only putting it on for when i go to R-Tech to have custom session. Dont expect any real gains from it till then tbh.
-
Its just the price thats putting me off. I dont mind running it as the meth aint too expensive.
£500 for a good kit (or whatever it costs) is a lot for 5bhp.
-
Under £250 pal, most are sub £300.. :afro:
AEM
Aquamist
Devils own
Snow
-
ahhh, I still dont know, its a lot of money for little price and hassle of changing maps etc.
Next route would be nitrous and water meth, but i imagine it would crank the torque up a bit too much for the poor rods.
-
Ive only really fitted it to keep intake temps down, its just like having gigantic intercooler
Cant do any harm!
-
What IC you got?
I got THS and see temps around 25c at inlet according to VCDS
-
Ebay core, but with 2.5inch pipework.
I will have a DIY twinpass by the time it gets mapped though.
-
Ahhh.
If i know how vagcom reported timing and what was set out in my map, i might have a better idea of how things are performing in my engine....but its far too technical for me lol
-
For anyone thats wondering what this does, someone posted a great video on another thread on here explaining exactly what to expect..

Pretty intense shiz!!
Can you do this to a diesel?
-
I believe you can, any turbo or supercharged engine
-
Hmmm, wonder if the gains really are as much as shown in graph
-
Debatable I would have thought, it is a promotional video!
Does show the effects though, some people have doubts it works atall, some swear by it..
-
before and after injecting meth.... picture evidence below...
No not that one... thats my last RR graph sorry...
it`s this one...
-
If that is what it does to the face, what would it do to the car!
Gains seem good, whats that 35lb and about 20bhp, I can't see the graph properly on opera mini?
-
Jamie, oh dear lol
Still trying to buy some of the stuff lol. Anyone know where i can get some from Oxfordshire?
-
apparently you can make it from household cleaning agents
-
Wrong meth, dont want to be injecting any crystals
-
apparently you can make it from household cleaning agents
Liking the install its looking nice and neat!
-
Bloody hell jamie...Theres a load more power under the graph.
Were there any map tweaks between runs?
-
Bloody hell jamie...Theres a load more power under the graph.
Were there any map tweaks between runs?
of course..lol went in for custom stage 2. was let down by starvation of fuel. first run was when car first went on and last run was obviously after tweeks were done.
as you can see though, top end power was cut back to 6.5k due to the fueling problem
anyway, sorry for hijacking your thread dave!
-
Looks like i might be saving up in the new year.
Meth and a N/A inlet cam.
-
Lol Jamie, i knew what that was all about straight away lol. Show off
N/A cam, any before/afters of that?
-

rods?
-
Too much effort lol.
maybe if i can find a crank for my other engine thats in bits!
-
Do you have a block spare?
-
I have a block with a foobard crank what i took out of my car when it died,
-
Well, anyone got a before after graph with new figures?
Im going to be fitting:
Forged rods
water meth
lightened flywheel
Intercooler jets over xxx rpm or boost
Wideband lambda + gauge
Hopeing to have a bit more area under the graph and hold onto power a bit more longer in range plus a bit more peak power for pub talk :)
-
Really need get mine on rollers soon, just need fit larger intake to filter housing then ready. Why you fit bam fuel pump??
-
As BAM is a 4 bar job, mines coming up to 90k miles and didnt want standard 3 bar job to be a bottleneck.
I also lightened my ABF flywheel, revs up really quick, but makes car a bit more jerky on deceleration..
Shaft69 as pm, no, not yet mate, had MASSIVE problems with a couple of sumps and lost interest with it, but now its back, its all go again
-
Meth one mine superb mate love it comes in around 12psi surge/ acceleration is awesome. Pull so well from 70 to 120mph, but have to say i would very highly recommend APR map. Can see why they love it in the states its brilliant.
-
What turbo you running mate?
-
Ko3s made up with it mate get big grin every time drive it. Let my mate run out in it honestly he swears as fast or feels as fast as his mates golf 'R'.
-
Got a graph with k03s water meth?
Im 248bhp now and want a tiny bit more [:)]
-
Hoping to soon if get fit intake pipe into filter box sat will see if carbon tuning give me power run sometime next week. Need little things doing before run, knocked fitting forge actuator to turbo for a while just not got the time. Adj up original turbo actuator rod up 3 turns boost little better. Getting meth inj big thumbs up for me, i was bit no no about it but now im running it just awesome very simple to fit.
-
A golf R as quick as a 1.8t, you on crack? I'd agree if you said you had a stripped out golf running 350bhp then that TT-RS territory but a 1.8t with 240ish :undecided:
I wouldnt compare the two, Ive been in a mk4 r32 and thats on par with a 230bhp mk4, the 2.0TFSI powerplants are in a different league as I have been in the mk2 LCR k1 edition stock and tunes and my mate had APR's Golf R the other day as they borrowed his TT-RS for development. Even the lowergrade mk2 LCR would chew the hell out of any mk4 in its way unless it was stripped and had some good work done.

Dont ask me never driven one, i know he went from evo9 to golf r to now modded focus rs500. Said for £30k performance was poor on the golf. Golf r's only260ish bhp aint they?? He's got 60plate M3 too in matt black, rich boy.

Sounds like my mate he is now debating a twin turbo r8, good fun though when he takes you out in his toys though.
