Title: FRONT CENTRE ARMREST QUESTION PLEASE
Post by: Dave_R on 11 May 2005, 17:55
Does anyone know if a front centre armrest can be fitted in a Mk IV with Recaro seats??  The side bolsters look a bit close together.

You can fit one yes, I have in mine, pictures can be found here:

Main thing is to get one with the 'longer' bolt as they came with 3 bolts the same size when I bought mine. The bolt that goes on the passenger side wasnt long enough to reach the hole, and the bracket was left dangling, so your left with an armrest which is great fun as it moves from left to right. I bodged mine up in the end, but as you can see from the pics, ripped it in the process of getting it in. It's also very fiddly getting the bolt through the side of the brakcet into the armrest itself and you have to have a bit of patience which I simply didnt!

Bought mine from ebay and to be honest, it's nothing like the quality of the one I had as standard in my Mk4 2.0GTI. Bit rubbish if you ask me!

I know it was quite a while since this topic was mentioned, but i am new to this site.

I purchased a centre armrest from E-bay a few months ago, and most of it is sitting in my boot now

As pointed out before, the nut which holds the passenger side of the bracket was too short, so I ended up using a file to make the bracket a bit thinner...this worked, and the nut connected properly

Once I had fitted the bottom bracket, it was time to attach the main armrest, but the metal internal part is way too far to the right, and does not connect to the bracket (it looks like it needs a spacer or something?)

Anyway, as I modified the lower bracket, I cant send the thing back now

Has anybody else had this problem?  My cars a 2001 1.8T 3-door with Recaro seats
