i have a 91 mk2 gti and it quickish for me (i had a granda civic before) but i wouldnt mind it being a little faster? i already have a letterbox style exhaust on it, but what mods can i do to make it faster? i know you can get the head and cam done but for that kinda money id rather get a new car  so would a k&n make much difference? i hear they make your car drink the petrol more? is it worth it?
what about a superchip? can u get one for a mk2?

a filter will help it breath but don't expect miracles. get a panel filter (k&n or similar) and throw away all the gubbins in the bottom of your air box to improve the airflow. you can chip yours which will be a digifant engine so thats the last thing you can do without doing head/cams.
a new filter won't increase your fuel consumption, other than you'll be raggin it a bit more!
