Title: High Clutch?

Hi everyone, Im getting tired now so this is going to be a quick one.. What does it mean if my clutch is biting at the top of the reach. Literally bites then there is about an inch until my foot leaves the pedal.

Replace the cable first, if not much better then you need a new clutch.

Biting point is generally quite high on these tbh. As Wayne said though, a new cable may sort it, if not then clutch replacement is a last resort. Do a hill test before deciding to go down that route if I were you though.

To test your clutch this is what a local mechanic told me. Park the car, engine running, handbrake on - keep the handbrake on throughout the test. Clutch down put the car into 4th (handbrake remains on) release the clutch as you rev the engine (don't go crazy but imagine you're trying to pull away). The car should stall as soon as the clutch is released under this load, if it doesn't then your clutch is probably on its way out.

I had this and just reset my auto tensioning cable, problem solved.

Yeah that's right. Either that or select a gear which your car would struggle to increase speed on the given hill. If your revs are increasing but speed is not, then clutch is slipping.  :smiley:
