Post by: Li-D on 15 December 2011, 22:26
Ive got a mk3 golf tdi. I got it a few weeks ago with full service history but feels very sluggish and looking at the service history the the turbo and I.c pipes have never been cleaned out etc...

So I need a how too guide to do it, tools and chemicals needed etc...

Is it easy and quick too do?

its a mk3 diesel, its supposed to be sluggish!  Check the engine number and look up the suggested power output, as there were a few different engines with various outputs, maybe its the lower one.... have a look for split/leaking air hoses, perhaps its down on boost.

Its a 90bhp ahu tdi, I had a clio nasp diesel 60bhp and that felt quicker tbh so somethings slowing it down

Well start with the basics, make sure the air filter is clean, chuck some injector cleaner through it also make sure the brakes are not binding.

Saying that wayne! I have noticed a sort of wurring sound from the back. Its wierd though comes at 60mph sort of deep then goes like a higher pitch from 70mph up.

And had window open and noticed a hissing sound from engine side, airbox is drilled but doubt it would make a hissing sound so think it might have a boost leak too.
