Title: Fix It Again Tomorrow
Post by: Bellend on 15 December 2011, 22:20
Lesson learned, don't borrow your mates £50 Fiat that has both a lengthy MOT & Tax.

There's a reason that it has odd wheels, rear bumper held on with duct tape & only cost £50.

Dark country lane, blind bend, cars flying past at 60MPH+ and the stupid gear linkage decides it doesn't like me. It lost third at the beggining of the journey, after not idling when cold because my mate thought it sounded great with no airbox.

Second lesson: Never buy (or in my case use the one that we found under the seat of the Fiat (sign of things to come) a Halfords tow bar. It's pathetic. It doesn't fit on a VW LT as the tow eye bracket is tiny. Or the Chrysler.

So with two G clamps it was attached to an LT. Which got me out of the lanes. This was my view:

Then the G clamp snapped on a pothole. Fair enough. Use of a hammer later and we have 4th, lets go home. Wait, a hill start. Bollox. That's alright, mums behind me in the Golf. PUUUUUSH. Sweet we're moving. Top of my hill decending down to my house, bye bye rear brake cylinder, we didn't like you anyway. Oh nuts, the handbrake doesn't really do much at the best of times and especially not with brake fluid soaked shoes.

Engine brake? Oh wait we only have forth. Damn. I'm going to die. Well approaching my drive @ 35MPHwith the engine switched off, mass pumping the brake pedal just slowed me............. straight into the logs on the drive. Sweet.

Never again will I trust my mates "yeah my brother checked the car over, it's all good".

I now FULLY understand why the buyer of my Fiat Punto made up those lies. In fact I feel I should give him double his money back.

So if you drove past (like 34 other cars, not one stopping, tossers) on Blacksmiths lane, that was me. ALSO, for any locals, silver BMW 1 series, DA58 NBG is an undercover.

That sucks that your first cinq experience was a downer... They're fantastic little cars.

Second.

Had one last month that I ended up selling on and made £200. Was SUCH a fun car through the lanes! This one is jolly knackered though.

Oh and another thing, those tinted rear lights that you thought were well cool and you can see the brake lights and sidelights and indicators in the day fine, are stupid.

They are a certain brightness from the factory, bright but not too bright. The thin layer of tint spray on the Fiat had many people swerving at the last minute.

Either don't do it or brighten up the rear lights after!
