Mate I don't get how it works then, cause when I look at the key it looks like he's took the immobilizer out cause when you push down the button there is nothing there, and theres no LED light etc..
But when you lock the golf with the key the red led flashes on by the door pins?..

So why don't the car open when I press the button? Battery gone in the key?
-
The button operates the light...
Those keys dont have REMOTE locking.

So maybe It's a remote locking kit I need
I get bored of having to use the key to lock and unlock the car all the time!
Any suggestions anyone?

I got the right click remote locking and works well. Comes with a OEM looking key fob too. About 3 wires and its in!

So if I bought this of eBay..
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Volkswagen-VW-Blank-Flip-Uncut-Key-Golf-Mk4-Mark-4-/370562262731?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item56473b66cb#ht_3012wt_1270
What would I need to do, to get it working on my ECU and get the central locking working?

What would I need to do, to get it working on my ECU and get the central locking working?
1. Place your first key into the ignition and turn to the second notch (do not start the car)
2. Now close the door and place your second key into the handle lock
3. Turn the key to the lock position and let it spring back to the central position.
4. Hold down the Lock button on your new remote, you may hear a bleep from the car
5. Now unlock the car using the key in the barrel and remove, then take your first key out of the ignition
6. Close the door
7. Your remote should now be coded
Would that all I have to do?

Yeah, your way would work.
I commented on that thread for the 'right click' one too.

I'm clueless when it comes to car security lol :(
OK so basically, if I brought one of them flip keys of eBay, got it cut for my car, took it to a VW dealer, and ask them to do it for me, would that be correct? And how much would I be looking on paying?
Stupid how it doesn't have remote locking already :(
