Post by: jnufcuk on 14 December 2011, 16:08
Looking into getting a new cat back system as i already have a 3"dp and sports cat.

been looking on ebay and seen both a scorpian and miltek both for roughly the same price.

Milltek are overrated IMHO!
Scorpion are nice exhausts.

noticed ones resonated and the other isnt, depends how loud ud like it i suppose, and theres free goodies with the scorpion 1 :), lookin fr a decent system myself but is the price you pay for a miltek really worth it, seen loads of other exhaust systems cheaper and look not too bad and made from same materials, surely the tailor made systems that fit the car would have the same bends and length etc for any make, or am i wrong.

ye wasnt sure how LOUD the non resonated would be?

never really heard either of them, dont want it overally loud aka chavtastic lol but want a bit of grunt

tried to look on google and all the mk4 seem to be r32s lol with only like 1/2 vids of gti?

dont know whether to go for scorpian because its cheaper and resontaed (even though some say the scorpians can be quite loud)

or

the miltek (always heard good things about them) pay a lil bit extra and get a better exhaust?

look for 2nd hand ones and seen them sold for like £200-250ish

edit: just seen this on miltek website;

Q) What is a resonator and what's the difference between a resonated and non-resonated exhaust system?

A) A resonator is a chamber in the exhaust system that contains a specific volume of air which is designed to cancel out certain frequencies of sound (made by the engine) - making the exhaust noise quieter.

Therefore, a non-resonated exhaust system will give you extra performance and a louder exhaust note and the resonated system will give you extra performance without increasing the exhaust noise much.

So seems like a non resonated one wont be overally loud??? :undecided:

The sound and quality - but unless you can get it cheap other makes such as blueflame are just as good

Or just go custom

Another couple of options well worth looking at are Piper or Jetex.

kl, i suppose any aftermarket system at 2.5" or more would be beneficial anyhow no matter what make eh

Yep some may be a bit loud though

Also if you are getting a sports cat it is worth getting a good make as a few people on here and at my local garage have had trouble passing MOT's with cheap cats

no youre not supposed to give me more decisions lol thats not the idea

custom? i dont know anywhere where i would go, plus dont want to try somewhere then find out they were s**t :lipsrsealed:

so would prefer a trusted make
