Title: Mark 5 Engine Shaking
Post by: Mamma on 14 December 2011, 13:26
I have a Mark 5, 1.6 FSI 2007. On starting the car from cold the engine shakes and makes a slight tapping noise when reved. This lasts for about 5 mins and then the car is fine- it feels like its running on 3 cylinders....then fine after 5 mins, any idea what the problem could be?
The car has been regularly serviced by VW and is not due for a service......

take it to a reputable garage, no use guessing on the internet!

Check for fault codes if not check engine timing by timing marks on tdc cylinder one as timing maybe slightly out especially if timing chain tensioner mayhave failed or variable valve timing slipped
