HI.
i have just moved from an Audi S3 to golf Gti mk6, will get some pics up and spec soon as i only picked it up today after 7 hour round trip from manchester to guildford and back!
Literally got back about 1/2 hour ago and am really pleased.
One thing that has really got my head in a twist is why it has the digital speed in KM/H have been though the manual, have checked google and many forums say that it can be changed to MPH in the alternate speed display in the dis menu but i do not even have such an option in the menu..
Is it normal to be stuck with KM/h as the digital read out??
My wifes MK5 golf gti is a nice big digital read out in MPH which i like, i know that the MK6 does not have KM/h on the dials, but surely we should be able to change it to what we want?
Hope that makes sence?

I think the only way to do it is change it to the rest of the world using VCDS.

It's because the mk6 doesn't have km/h on the dials and it's a legal requirement that you have km/h displayed for when driving in europe. It can be changed with VCDS as ajmoir36 says.

Also, why would we need two mph displays?

How to get the option on the MFD is here http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=154971.msg1424313#msg1424313
When you change it to the Rest of The World it then means the temperature is constantly displayed on the MFD rather than KMH

Can see your point Dubber but in the same token, why do we need to know what speed we are doing in 2 different measurement of units?

We always have had both mph and kph on the main speedo dial and never questioned it before, in the knowledge that it's there incase we go overseas.

Probably because it was fixed on a dial and not so much in your face. I don't even think a lot of folk knew it was there.
But with the digital readout always present it just seems so pointless. The thing with changing it to MPH as in the link, means it is hidden in the MFD as you have to scroll to display it but now shows the temperature constantly in place of KMH which in the winter is much more beneficial.
The KMH can still be activated in the set-up part of the MFD

Hmmm, if it is switchable via the DIS, I might have a go at doing that.
