Bloke at work today locked his keys in the car and if I had not seen this trick with my own eyes I would not have believed it. Someone asked him if he had a spare key with a remote fob at home, when he said yes he told him to phone his wife while standing next to his car and get her to point the fob down the phone 30 miles away and the car opened.
So far we have tried it with a Renault, a peugot and a Vauxhall to test it out to see if it was a fluke but it worked everytime so why not try it with your car car and post if it works!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hmmmmm... :undecided:
-
So you want us to drive 30 miles away from where the second key is kept, then ring whoever has the second key and get them to press the button to unlock the car. Just to see if this works.
You crazy.
-
ermmm bollocks. Just a scam, if you like, to get idiots to lock themselves out their cars.

radio waves vs sound waves, totally different spectrum?

there are ways to unlock a car with some phones, but you need to seriousy twerk the firmware in std guise phones mic won't pickup RF signals to they can be twerked to make them into an RF transiver that'll read, record and transmit signals to cars but they don't work as a phone anymore

The great paragraph spacing here tells me this is a copy and paste post.
That, and what you're saying is utter bollocks. Seriously, has anyone anywhere ever fallen for this? If so, they deserve to be locked out of their car. The other question being of course, how do you lock the keys in the car if you only have one set?
-
Interesting fact:
If you're really cold you should shït your pants a tiny bit (just enough to touch cloth) and you'll feel warm straight away.

automatic lock after a certain time, left keys in car and connected a battery charger when the batteries died and its locked the car

My Galaxy has auto-lock after 60 seconds or so if you've just unlocked it with the fob, found out the hard way how much of a PITA it can be if your keys are on the car floor, you turn around for a moment to see to one of your kids and the wind blows the door shut just as you hear the doors locking ... :lipsrsealed:

Or open the boot with your remote, whilst fumbling around in the boot you accidentally drop your keys in there then shut it!
(the wife has actually done this with her beetle, luckily though, outside our house )

All joking aside, that one DOES work. If i'm walking away in a car park, i'll often stick the fob on my chin and push the button. Works much further away :)

Erm.. even if you did want to test this stupid theory. Why would you need to lock your kets on the car? That would be a double stupid thing to do

I used to do that every time I came out of work, because the range on the fob for the MK2 was rubbish! Makes the range much better! Remember that was on top gear with jeremy and his merc, quite funny!
-
My mate has a very stupid alarm fitted on his mk4, when you close the door with the engine running it locks the doors. I know most alarms have this feature but I know no one who turns it on
when we were leaving work a few weeks ago he went out the front to warm the engine up, started it up and closed the door  couldnt get back into it and by the time he got a lift home to get the spare key and came back it had run out of petrol :lipsrsealed:

My old alarm did that but only when you revved engine to about 2k I think, which was ok I think.
My new alarm does it too, but not sure what triggers it, if it's a time delay or what. Must RTFM to be honest.
Wouldn't want it to lock the doors immediately on shutting that'd be crazy!

I didn't mate, worked when I tried so didn't scrutinise. I'm still not over the day I found out it was scripted tbh, so I try to pretend Top Gear is as perfect as I thought it was at first......don't burst the bubble...

people might say the whole put the remote to your head thing is rubish. but today i was walking away from my car, was about 5 or 10 metres away (remote only normally works about 1 or 2 metres away) and i was pressing the button to lock it cause ide forgot to, wouldnt lock, then i tried with it to my head for a laugh and it actually worked
coinsidence or not?
-
No coincidence, I did it pretty much every day occasionally trying without putting it to my head, then putting it to my head, and it always worked.
