Title: Vintage Calibre or Porsche Twists?
Post by: jnufcuk on 13 December 2011, 16:58
Really need your help guys (as usual lol)

Seen a couple of sets of wheels for sale on ed30 etc

Just wondering what do you think looks better and what would you go for; will put price, width etc

Vintage calibre 17s 8j (£550ono) with tyres , bolts, centre caps)

Staggered porsche twists; 18" 7.5j & 18" 10j, falkens with good tread,4 steel adapters & bolts (£700ono)

Are they good price?

Would 17s be too small? will be getting coilovers so will be lowered lol

Thanks guys :afro:

Now I've seen them, I prefer the first ones, but the second ones will be easier to keep clean. With this weather and all the dirt, wheels are hard to keep clean, those detailing chaps must be breathing in a brown paper bag trying to not panic

if you got the 18" caliber's and then had the spokes painted in red leaving
chrome outer ring,i'd do that...

17"s will be ok but you need to lower it, I would also recommend that you budget to get better tyres, wheel / tyre packages tend to come with ditchfinders.

Cleaning? Whats that? That's dads job lol

Don't know whether to just spend a lil extra and get a brand new set or calibre in 18s and maybe stagger them???
Maybe do the same wih 17s??

Whats the best "j" to go with?

Ive got  Lesnso RS5's...need spacing especially on the rear but great alloys and they are 17's, as above could do with lowering. I would go for the Vintage calibre imo, they are very nice   .

£100 a corner.

Calibres wont be so bad as you have winter wheels.

Porka ones are nice, but it bugs me two go forward, 2 go backwards..

Wheels are such a marmite thing, its your car, your money and ultimately, your choice..

Which do YOU prefer?

I was going to buy a set of Vintage's but then you only have to look through a copy of PVW and nearly every Mk4 has them on so i decided not to.  :undecided:

Twists are

I thought I saw a 206 with some porsche twists on, was like OMG as it was pretty standard. Then I saw one parked up and noticed that they were a just peugots standards

I saw you get a set of them, paint them black and get some porsche centre caps!  You'd fool atleast one person!

Have to agree with Steve, Dotz Hanzo's are one of the worst wheels I have ever seen.

twists but 7.5 all round, 10's and/or staggered fit is just plain stoopid
