Are you just seeing a red screen? This happened on my old golf, I was told the cluster would have to be changed. I drove around with it like that for months, until one day when I was cleaning the car I left the stereo on, completely drained the battery, and had to jump the car. Jumped the car. Screen came back. Never had a problem after that. So might be worth trying to disconnect your battery for a while and see if it comes back when reconnected?
If that doesnt work. Clean your car. Leave the stereo on whilst doing so. Drain the battery. Jump start it. And see if that works

as said above try disconnecting the battery failing that look for the instrument cluster on ebay (very cheap) will need vw software to reprogram the immo tho.

Thanks for the help, yes it was just a blank screen, I've disconnect the battery and the little screen is still blank,

Sounds like your cluster is dead then.

Probably best off replacing them so. Cheap enough these days, and a good excuse to upgrade if you only have the standard clocks at the moment.
