Title: cambelt quote
Post by: Sugar79 on 10 May 2005, 15:40
Iam off to the garage tomorrow to get a quote for my cambelt.
So far my mum popped in to the garage which she uses and asked them as she says they are very good.
Prob is she said my car was a 16v???? and they were abit confused and want me to pop down so they can look at the engine, so far they've said £150 but my mum forgot to ask if thats with the tensoner as well.

Is a £150 quite a good price??

I wont tell you my millage at the moment with the original belt as it might cause some people some distress!!!

hmm sounds ok price, i doubt it will include tensioner at that price, you wanna have them using genuine vw parts,  the cambelts are £20 from vw, the tensioner (for my 1.8 20v gti) was £45 ish from what i remember, im not sure how much the tensioner is for the 2ltr 8v (i think thats what yours is??) so if they are including the belt and tensioner thats a good price really!!!
