Title: 8V Idelling Troubles
Post by: Ads on 10 May 2005, 12:44
Hi guys.

Went for a run in my Gti today and it doesnt seem right at all.

For some reason when i come to a stand still the revs drop from
around 1200 to 400 then bounce up and down from 400 to 1000 untill it idles how it should! If it doesnt bounce around it just cuts out on me

What the hell is wrong , the accellerator seems a little 'sticky' for somereason to, could this be part of it?

Suggestions and how I can sort this would be helpful!!!!!!!!!

try sparying a bit of wd40 in the throttle butterfly could be sticking and on the springs that control it. also check the throttle position switch is plugged in and correctly attatched for starters......

Just sorted this out on my car a week ago.

Remove the large air intake pipe between the air filter box and the cast metal air box above the manifold. This exposes the two throttle bodies undeneath the throttle cable. Now clean all of this out with a toothbrush and petrol.

Problem solved
