I think you're bonkers. Stretching tyres is not something I would do, especially in an extreme way as it sounds like you're doing. Call me old-fashioned but I would rather have a tyre used in the way it's supposed to be and feel safe than put mine and others' well-being at risk just because it "looks good".

Tyres are your only point of contact with the road. I'd prefer that I have confidence in them.

You've answered your own question by posting the standard... Safest amount of stretch is none.  Not trying to be funny, it's the honest answer to your question.

Not sure how much use http://www.tyrestretch.com will be to you but worth a look,

LOL i knew somebody with have to act all "mother"

thanks for that, ED38 and VWVortex have some good info and pics, infact there's actually a complete thread on stretching that i diddnt find :embarassed:

http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?2234638-all-you-ever-needed-to-know-about-**stretched-tires-and-poke**-but-were-afraid-to-ask

Now to all you haters and wannabee road safety officers, find me some hard accurate evidence that stretching is bad, because all i can find is peoples "opinions" on how unsafe it "could" be. and no actual proof?

Yep, I've never seen solid evidence, ok stretched tyres blow out more, weakening of the wall an all that.

I've personal experience of that so i won't run them on anything but 'show' rims
