ok as the title suggests whats the differences between the two
jay

i beieve its a trim level thing..
highlines = metallics like purple etc..
also i believe all highlines came in leather..
not sure if air-con/climatronic is also a factor in this
-
cheers thinking about getting one but dont know if a couple grand more as highlines are are worth it when its just a trim thing
-
are they really fetching that much more?
found this here >> http://www.beedubs.co.uk/default.asp?location=default.asp&id=13
"More important though was the Highline from April 1995. Manual air conditioning, leather trim, walnut topped gearlever, heated seats and either Black Pearl, or Purple Violet Pearl metallic paintwork which the hide would match. Both the standard and Highline VR6 were discontinued in November 1997."
basically the exact same spec as my valver apart from the walnut topped gearlever..
not even climatronic.. although i'd suspect people might opt for that.. if you're lucky
-
think the highline is actually 2.9 whereas the other is 'just' 2.8 litres. highline has more power then i guess.
-
basically the exact same spec as my valver apart from the walnut topped gearlever..
Thats worth a couple of grand........ unless it was made from prehistoric rare wood.....

I think that some of the plastic on the inside of the door pillars are a different colour, but there are a number of VR6s with most of the important bits like allround leather air con etc.
Also the V5 should show it as being a Highline.
They are worth more, normally because of all the extras, but against a normal VR6 with all the same extras it becomes a bit like having a mk2 16v or a mk2 16v conversion.
They are the same, but one will always be worth more than the other ( if the conditions are the same )
-
Highlines are 2.8 with no extra power.
There are a few differences, mainly trim.
Black interior A B and C pillars, Plastic sill cover with VR6 on it, slightly different centre console and rear ash tray, VR6 badges with silver writing on a black background front and back. All very pedantic really and not worth extra money.
Colour coded heated leather and Manual A/C is standard, climatronic was an option as with any MK3.
Highlines have 15" 6 spoke BBS solitude wheels the same as colour concepts and coraddo storms.
No real reason why a Highline should be worth more than a Normal VR6 with full spec, unless you desperately want purple Violet pearl metalic as a colour, which was exclusive to highlines.
I don't think highlines go for a couple of grand more than a normal VR6 but maybe a few hundred.
I say go for the best condition VR6 you can find.

jte is spot on....
