Title: MK4 GAMMA CD CONNECTION - IS THERE OR ISN'T THERE A CABLE
Post by: blacfist on 11 December 2011, 13:52
Hello,

got a 1998 convertible. it has the standard (and better quality than I expected!) GAMMA tape deck head unit. was just wondering how I'd know if it has the CD changer cable connected or not. I read somewhere that some golfs have this cable pre-installed even if the actual changer unit was not.

When I press CD, the screen displays 'no cd changer', so I was thinking that means the cable is there but the changer not....or does this not give any indication of the cable being present. if the cable is there, where is it likely to be run to, the boot, under a seat??

one last thing, how do /i get the head unit out...assuming the cable has not been installed, I'll need to get into the back of the unit myself?

thanks for your help folks

cheers
bf
thanks

I dont think the cable is there if there isnt a changer already installed. If it is though, it runs along the passenger side under the carpet under the doors.
