The Seats - they are superb for me, almost tailor made.
The Nav - top notch for ease of use on the nav side, phone kit and music plus having the built in HD is a massive bonus as you don't really need to leave an iPod in the car.
The Engine - sootchuckers don't come any better than the motor in the GTD not in terms of out and out performance but in so much as it's great on fuel, very quiet and very refined in fact the only problem I can see is that this will cause me issues when changing into another car if it doesn't have this motor in it.

Steering Wheel - suppose I don't appreciate it enought cause I am use to it but everyone that comes in my car or drives it comments on how nice it is ( steering wheel lads, keep it clean ) and I suppose they are right! It is sexy! When I drive the girlfriends Mini am like what's this big round plastic thing here!!!
Xenons - Although fitted aftermarket I just love them with the LEDs, totally change how the car looks!
Handling - Well it a GTI after all and that's what they are best it! Such a joy to drive on B roads, takes every corner with ease and ability, except when I am wheel spinning everywhere :lipsrsealed:
-
Seats - can't believe how comfy and supportive they are. it shouldn't be possible! The bast road car seats I've ever sat in. Love the tartan cloth too - everyone comments on it even non-car people!
Engine - love the torque and ease of use and refinement but has another side to it when you want to push things on a bit. After my 197 which was gutless below 5500rpm the torque of the golf makes driving so much easier - just wish you could hear the turbo a bit more! the clio was damn good fun as you felt you were more involved somehow but in the real world torque makes life much easier!
5 door looks - love the ease of use of a 5 door. getting the baby seat in and out is a doodle (i considered a scirocco and foci RS and it would have been a nightmare!). I also believe the 5 door (with privacy glass) is better looking than the 3 door which should be impossible but IMO they pulled it off with the golf.
-
The depreciation - every time I use the car it has lost me another months wages.
The colour - it's grey. Next best thing to an invisibility cloak.
The fairy lights - small children stare in wonder whilst their attractive mothers just look disapprovingly at my chav lights.
-
There are many, but my I think the best bits are;
The seats; I have a bad back and find most car seats uncomfortable on moderate to long journeys - even the seats in some premium brand cars. Not the GTD seats though; the best seats I've had in any car.
The lights; xenons front and LED's rear. The xenons because they're brilliant and the read LED's because they look really good.
The engine; smooth power delivery, quiet and refined and good economy.

3.1 The lights Xenons are the dogs - I just don't know why these aren't standard on all cars these days?

Then they wouldn't stand out asuch and its a luxury add on that car companies will make ££££ on!

Handling absolutely superb, living rural gives the opportunity for some real keen driving everyday put's a huge smile on your face from cheek to cheek. Had the current Audi A3 Sport which I thought was good however the GIT is a far superior car.
Adaptive Xenon's - My wife thought I lost the plot paying the extra for these lights ,she now realizes she was wrong they are such a big part of driving safety at night. Watching the light beam go round a corner when you turn the steering wheel or watching the beam of light shine down climbing a steep hill or rising up going down a steep hill, they light up the road so well compared to standard head lights.
I'm going to cheat hear. On a sunny day nothing beats having the sunroof open and the dynaudio system playing while driving fast down b-roads.
Without doubt the best car I have owned and for sure will change it for the next generation of Golf GTI. The all round package is of practicality and sportiness in one word is 'phenomenal'

3.2 DSG
-
1. Reversing camera
2. Rear LED's
3. Diamond cut wheels.
I'd happily swap my DSG box for Xexons and my swap leather for ACC though.

1. The looks
2. How it drives
3. How it makes me feel
More specifically,
1) The interior - whether it be the really comfy seats; the cloth trim; the dashboard layout; the interior "spaceship control" (as my mum calls it) at night or the general classy and not plasticky interior
2) Torque - I love the ability to instantly change the throttle and power delviery - woooosh!
3) Sat Nav/Bluetooth combo - never thought I'd really use them as much as I do and all my mates love the touch screen controls and the quality of the display etc. (not as much as I do though)
Three things I miss
1) 4 wheel drive (came from an Audi Quattro)
2) Xenons - never had but which I did
3) DSG - couldn't stretch to a DSG model at the time but would dearly love it!

Agree with the seats!
Don't have NAV so can't comment. I'll instead go for my DSG gearbox here.
Agree with the engine. Albeit my car is the petrol but I agree with the direction of you're comments that the VW powerplants are amongst the finest engines within their categories.
Although the order of these could change depending what mood I'm in.

1) The xenons and rear LEDs - they attract lots of favourable comments.
2) The interior layout and seating - dashboard is so intuitive and classy looking and the seats are way too comfortable, it's like coming home to your favourite armchair.
3) The reversing camera, although for me this was a retrofit (wish I'd specced it at purhase time) it is a brilliant addition to the car and my friends are consistently impressed, always asking me to put the car in reverse.
I absolutely love my car, it never fails to put a smile on my face and draws many admiring glances particularly when it is clean and gleaming in all its black glory. I cannot see anything out there within the same price bracket that offers such a great package.

1) Xenons
2) Supportive Seats, surprisingly better than the plush A4 I had before it.
3) IT IS A GOLF!
-
1) DSG
2) 4 Wheel drive
3) The cabin, its a really nice place to be!

1. The fact that for the same budget nobody who I know would buy the same car (how much for a golf!). These cars are like rocking-horse-sh!t in Manchester. Knowing I bought the cool Q-car rather than the deisel Audi/merc/BMW bland exec barge option is the best thing about the GTI. Yes I am smug.
2. The engine-DSG gearbox combo. You cant assess the engine without the mentioning the gearbox. DSG is not perfect, but in the real world the confort commute/rag the arse off it on a B-road combo is true genius.
3. The way the rear LED's fade out when you turn them off and fade in when you turn them on. Has anyone else noticed this? Its fettish levels of engineering like this which make the car a joy to own. Go on, stand in the drive and keep turning your lights on and off!
Bad bits...
1. Front wheels constantly spinning in the wet in first gear.
2. erm??
3. erm-ummm-errrr?

The Car
1. Handling
2. Looks
3. Gearbox
The Other stuff
1. Leather
2. Xenons
3. Interior/Dash etc.
-
1. RCD510 + Dynaudio + 8 speakers
2. The driver's seat
3. Carbon Grey + Charleston Shadows
-
For mine its:
1. The rain water getting in,
2. The engine vibration and crunching suspension noises,
3. The numerous creaks and rattles within the interior.
:(

^^^^^^ If that's your best 3 I'd hate to see your worst 3
-
1. Best all round package out there.
17"s/winter tyres in comfort mode make for a limo like ride, bluefin makes for a Porsche catching ride and I can still get a fridge in the back or shed panels on the roof. All done with great style.
-
1. The MDI USB Port capability for a 500Gb 2.5" drive (Never change a CD again).
2. The boot badge handle opener.
3. The steering wheel, feel and layout.
-
Dsg.... Surprisingly good considering it's not made by BMW.
