Hi all,
As you can see I am new to this site, recomended by a good mate, and are looking to see if anyone can help with the following.
We have (or should I say did) have a mint original Rivage that has just been involved in a bad car park accident. The insurance company were very good and agreed to a payout on the basis that we looked after the repairs ourselves. We have found an excellent MK1 bodyshop, but we are having real problems with the decals and stone guards. I can get good copies of the "Rivage" decal but it is not exact. The original is made up from small spots and not a complete block. The printing company informed me that that type of printing is no longer used.
Has anyone had this problem and if so any suggestions.
Thanks for any help you can give

Updated profile to show my location, getting used to using the site. Live in Cannock Staffs and had the Rivage for 6 years, wifes daily driver and VW nut also have T25 camper recently featured in Volksworld Camper & Bus. I know I will probrably find the answer on the site somewhere , but be grateful if someone can point me in the right direction for the decals. Looking forward to attending show/meet when the motor is back on the road. Sorry to be a pain - newbies - what are we like!
Will post some photo's once we have got her back. Using the same guy who did fantastic work on our camper and hope it looks as good as new.

Haha, he was talking about a forum member called 'guy'. Its no bother at all but as stated, go back onto the main page of the mk1 section and use the search function on the top toolbar.

 We were all new to here once. I'm sure someone will come along with an answer soon although. I know this has been an issue for many like yourself. Be good to see pictures of both your VWs. I know there was a bloke on the Mk1 owners club that used to do good replica's but apparently he left that club a while ago.
You're not too far from me, i'm in between Warwickshire and Leicestershire
I've only recently got back into going to some shows this year now mine is kind of back on the road and there's a good bunch that regularly attend. If mines in a fit state in the new year i'll be at it again as some of the shows in my opinion are unmissable. great crowds and of course cars.

You could try out these guys, pretty old school site but it does have a mobile number on it and whoever answers may be able to point you in the right direction

I don't think anyone has ever done any good replicas of the originals. Best you're going to get are they good copies you said you could get. I had a Rivage for years and it didn't have the original decals and it never really bothered me, the originals look like they've faded anyway.
-
Surely there is a little ebay business to set up here? Get ten sets printed and simply sell the odd one now and then to make a quick £15 or so?
-
Trim Sport don't do them anymore, but I am sure they did at one time.
I will have a look into this further.
In so far as the stone foils are concerned they were not fitted as standard on the Rivage, that's why there is often paint loss on these areas.
I have supplied people world wide with these and for the Rivage (AKA Classic Line in Europe and the USA) I do these in a clear finish so the normal colour shows through.
I usually do the Black dotted ones for standard, but did a set with silver dots for an all black cabby looked nice.

Ooooo they look good.
-
there is a guy on mk1OC who can source original ones... think I had a pm off him at one point
the decals above look good though
apologies for not replying to this thread sooner... only just had it pointed out to me :)
-
The Chap you are on about on the MK1 OC were copies of origionals.
Unfortunately he left the Club otherwise I would of got some from him.
As far as I know there are no Origionals left out there, based on the numbers produced for the UK Market.
Only 500 odd. Although bigger numbers for the same model car badged as the classic line in Europe and the USA.
Mine are reproduced from photographs taken from an Origional from a Bloke in Scotland, who's car is ridiculously mint.
He even traced around the Outline for me too.

Hi Folks,
Now down to 3 sets left.
Have sent custard a message but no response as yet.
-
Hi Custard,
If you read this you have another mail
-
How much for a set of the rivage stickers ? Seen them on eBay at£25.00 but that's a bit steep.
-
I suppose it's a question of how you want your car to look, as close as to Original factory issue or not.
These aren't for everyone as one of the previous posters said it never botherd him not having any on.
There are some rubbish ones floating about at a similar price, as I have some on my Rivage, so they are going.
Great if you want a game of mini chess lol.

It's very personal as to what people value things at.
How much do you value your work as a painter? Some may say what your firm quote as steep?
So therefore wouldn't use the firm you work for.
But then you would have to say, well there is the prep work and materials and the time to do the job etc.
It's all subjective at the end of the day, I value the stuff I do because I know what it has cost me to do the artwork and the printing and the set up costs at the graphics company and the Vynil and the packaging and the postal costs.
It all mounts up and yes it's tricky to comapre a re spray to some decals monetary wise, but the principal is the same.
So £12.50 a side doesn't seem that steep to me.
These are spot on and it took a lot of effort from a few people, taking pics and other things to get them correct.
I have now sold out on E Bay and Members on here and the MK1 OC have reserved the rest that are coming in next week.
Cheers

Alright mate the only reson I asked about the price is because I'm as tight as a mouses ear! I didn't know if you did a discount for members on here or mk1oc.
Cheers,Mark.
-
I do,
about 20%....
Even if you paid £25.00 for them as you didn't have any on I reckon it would increase the value of the car by more than £25.00 as it completes the car IMO.
So a geat investment..
-
kuvalee you tight get. £25 for those if you need them is a bargain.
