Title: Temperature Gauge
Post by: GTI16vGaz on 22 September 2003, 19:51
Does any1 know where abouts my temperature gauge is connected in the engine or where abouts i could locate it.

It only works when it wants to.. it would be ideal if it was working all the time.

My car is GOLF GTI mk2 1989 3 door.

Its the gauge in the middle of the clocks a bit to wards the top, i hope makes sense.  :-\

Any help would be great.  ;)

I think that works off the coolant temperature sensor which i think is mounted on the elbow coming out of the cylinder head.

When you do find it earth it to the engine with a paperclip and the gauge should read maximum, This will tell you that the gauge works ok.

Thats great  ;D thanks!

I'll start cleaning the connectors and hopefully it sould be the connector that is covered in dirt that needs removing to enable the temp gauge to work again, the problem is really intermittent.

thanks agian  ;)
