hi folks,
does anyone own or used a Kirby Vacuum cleaner??
they are quiet expensive but i know someone who has one and they have had it for nearly 18yrs!! still looks brand new and is spot on. IIRC they used to do demos at your home to show how it works etc.
thanks
-
Are these the ones which are like £1100 plus or so :undecided:
Think my Aunty had a demo which I remember watching; poor thing thought her house was clean and then you saw what it picked up!!
-
£1100 for a vacume
has it got like an aeroplane engine or something in there sucking up the dirt
-
I've got one, it's really good, or so the cleaner says.
Lifetime guarantee I think. Got my mum one too, she loves it
-
yeah thats probably the cheap ones!!
my friend showed me how much it cleaned and it was amazing!! did the sam etest as the sales man did all those years ago. he rubbed flour into the carpet and hoovered it up with a normal vac, then did it with the kirby and it picked up so much of the flour i could not believe it.
i know dyson is a really good brand to, ive also heard good things about oric?? (spelling)
-
Can't beat a Henry had mine for 14 years lol
-
The vacume cleaner itself is a very high quality product, USA built iirc,
The problem was Kirby were attached to a hard sell, and stitch up campaign in the 80s! Once the salesman was in your house, he wouldn't leave till you signed on the dotted line, thousands of people got stitched up! Not sure what they're doing these days, or whether they are still trading...

we've had one for 20 years, older than me  it has a headlight, think the rents paid around 1500 for it, it's really good, use it for the cars when they're not in need of a new engine :undecided: brother-in-law used to be a salesmen for them also
-
I think the headlight feature sold it for me. That n they do a cracking job compared to our Henry, not that Henry's are bad, just the kirby seems to pick up a load more, and with our littleuns sensitive allergy prone skin, it's cool.
And I wouldn't say there a hard sell, I came home at the end of the pres that my missus, her nan an cleaner had been watching an said I'd pay £X for two or piss off.
Done dealio

Dyson - ever looked inside one or seen how its put together? :lipsrsealed:
Sebo or Miele
-
Never used a Kirby, but my missus tells me the Henry is good. I'll trust her on that as it cost enough
-
my parents bought a Vorwerk in the mid-80's - I think it cost about £800 then
I think it was from one of those door-to-door salesmen
gets used all the time and is still going strong

i think the price now can top €2k for one of these :lipsrsealed:
