I'm guessing if this happens in the cold then it is a seal that is leaking? Or do cars generally steam up in the colder weather, never steamed up once in the summer months even when poured down.

They're all twits for steaming up in the winter, not alot you can do other than a big bag of silicon gel somwhere in the car. I would suggest two, so you always have a dry one :smiley:

lol yer done that last winter, bought 200 silicone gel packets, guess i'll do same this year! can't be good for me leathers the moisture in there!

Water / moisture inside the car.
As it cools it condenses on the inside of glass.

Yer but would of thought it would do it in the summer still as thought the glass would still be coldish.

Not necessarily as the ambient temperature is higher.
If you had sh!t loads of water in the car in the summer, then yes, you would have a sauna like experience, e.g steam
In Winter, the inside of the car is warmer than the outside. Any moisture in the car that hits the cold glass condenses.
It's not broken seals letting air in, its damp air already inside the car.

No. Lift up all the carpet in the footwell. Mop up any moisture. Then you can grease over the throttle and bonnet release cable grommets in the scuttle tray. Seal the Air blower mesh cover seal. Generally seal up any possible entry point for rain water. Also the rear lights can let in water into the boot as their foam surrounds can perish.
This, when inside the car causes the "steaming up".
Silica bags help, but a good blast with windows and sunroof open do much better.

they do steam up a bit more than modern cars with a/c but if its constantly soaked theres prob a leak somewhere
one tip that helps ...near the end of each trip turn off the heat and drop the windows , having the interior same temp as outside helps it a bit
any leave a window /roof open whenever you can if its fry out

Its simples condensation forms when two sides have a shift in temperature one side is usually cold the other hot.
The only way to stop this is to put double glazing in the Golf.
Okay joking like everyone else has said if you have less contact with cold the cold side the less it will form. Insulation and trying to match outside temps inside like letting heated air from the car out before you get out!
Otherwise you might need to check if the blower as this blower helps to clean the screen of condensation quicker by warming up the glass to fight the temperature shift from outside!

Im missing a bung in the boot for mine. Its behind the bumper area under the vw badge although looking at other golfs this isnt there and i cant really see why there would be a hole there anyway.
Had to push one of those blanking things that you get on kitchen cupboard doors in there to slow down the water pouring in.

i had a big leak in one of my doors last year and it was a nightmare i put in some new door lining from gsf and this year i have had bare minimun steaming up, i also using rain-x anti fog and a demisting cloth for windscreen if it gets bad but i went to it thismorning and it was all clear :)
and i cant rely on my heaters in my golf they are rubbish i think i get more air when i blow than my actuall blowers

you might find the heater box flaps have fallen apart and the dash ducting can split off the dash , should work pretty nice when its all in good order
