I hope there is a simple answer but probably not :undecided: I need to know if normal exhaust silencers (golf mk2 16V 1991) would be baffled inside the box or straight through. I hope they were never baffled becuase mine has 3 silencers and the cat converter. That would be so restrictive  Why 3 silencers on one car? It cant be that load with only 2 can it?

you shouldn't have a cat as standard if your car is '91.
I bridged the front box with a bit of pipe when it died and didn't notice anymore noise.

Was a cat a factory option? I know they were mandaory from 93' on. Maybe its another silencer in disguise...

The box at the dottom of the downpipes is a silencer then u got a long straight front box, then u get the middle box (90deg turn) then u get the back box they were not catalists here just forign motors.

my stainless system has only two boxes and its frickin loud!!! easiest thing to do is bin the old exhaust and get a performance one, one of the best and easiest things you can do!!!

My motor is definately not a foreign one (i know its German but you know what i mean  ) It definately has a cat and 3 silencer boxes. It has (in order from front to back) silencer, cat, silencer, silencer. Has anyone else got a cat on thier system?

if your car is a k-jet 16v then it wont have a CAT from factory. they have 4 silencers as standard
the VAG exhaust system breathes very well. in fact it'll breath better than a lot of aftermarket stainless systems
