+1 for Osram Nightbreakers but unfortunately there are no replacements for DRL's yet (H15), and yes your dipped beam are H7.
This is mine (bottom of page) with Nightbreakers and Osram cool blue sidelights (w5w)

Hi,
I've got Philips +100% Extreme Vision ones, and highly recommend them. Nice crisp white light and more spread/depth; especially on kerb side.. I've also got their BlueVision sidelights (W5W) and they match the white of the headlights nicely. These W5Ws also work well in the interior lights.
Oh by the way; brace yourself for a patient swearing-full faff to get them in. It is possible without removing bumper, but not easy.

I replaced mine wiht the Philips too - much better. Agree re the faff - prepare for scuffed fingers and hands

I replace my main beam H7's with Phillips blue vision ultra, they only give about 30% more light than standard, but give a great bright white light, by far the best ive seen, if its the look your after rather than light output. You also get free blue vision sidelight bulbs which are alot whiter than the standard ones.
I emailed OSRAM about an upgraded H15 high beam/DRL bulb but they have no plans to make one, so i have turned off my DRL's cant stand the yellow ligth,
The better output H7 light bulbs still look abit yellow to me, whereas the phillips i brought are made to look xenon effect
-
ah ok so are the side lights are just the little w5w bulbs?
do they look really blue when fitted? don't want to look like a boy racer car.
-
Power bulbs also give you 10% off

The bulb coating is blue , but when lit they are white.
I did have some error free LED ones, but they really were to blue, but you can get som LED ones rated at 4000K which should match phillips blue vision ultra as they burn at 4000k, im going to try that next, but got to get some coding done as my DRL lights are comming on with everything at the moment even though i disabled the DRL's themselves. Something to do with when i fitted the rear LED's, so i have horrible DRL lights when main beam is on or just sidelights

Check out http://www.eurocarparts.com as they stock Philips Vision Plus and Osram Nightbreaker Plus with 25% off
-
I have used both the Philips +100% Extreme Vision and the Osram Nightbreaker Plus and while both offered a brighter output and longer throw than the standard bulbs I found the Philips to be brighter than the Osrams.
I got the bulbs from Powerbulbs, who also provided good after sales service and good prices (from a down-under perspective)

Hey, sorry to raise an oldie!
I'm torn between Phillips Xtreme Vision & Blue Vision, I definitely want more light than standard and they are a bit yellow too!
-
I got the MTEC bulbs in Cosmos Blue - They are really nice and bright, the color is perfect - and cheap

Have you replaced the H15s in the high beam unit with H7s?

Thanks, I guess the 100w version is no good for our cars? As we use 55w?
Power bulbs are offering free sidelight bulbs which is tempting.
-
I have MTEC Cosmic Blue fitted to my car and they are only 55w, although they say they give the light output of 100w, so I guess they do different versions.
-
I ended up going for Philips extreme, as I do lots of miles on country roads.
Real good customer service! 10% discount and they replaced the free OSRAM side lights for Phillips blue vision. Hopefully they will help reduce any yellow.

Holy thread revival Shatman....
Did they reduce the yellow?

Guys, have anyone updated their headlight bulbs?
I'm looking at Philips extreme 130 h7 bulbs and a set of Osram blue ones h15 fitment
-
I have just updated my whole set of front bulbs (minus the indicators) with Osram Cool Blue Intense (4200k).
The H7 and W5W's look loads better at night, they give off a really nice white light and provide really improved visibility from the standard bulbs. The H15 Osram Cool Blue Intense (3700k) let me down a bit as this still looks quite yellow in the daytime.
I would definitely recommend the H7 and W5W. In order to complete the set I changed H15 as well, although this bulb is pretty expensive at the moment and doesn't give the white light in the day that i would have liked (although i didn't expect that much).
-
Thanks for the reply. Shame that you are disappointed with the H15. Being still yellowish would bug me too. It really bugs me being "standard". I really need to change the bulbs
-
Can anyone else advise please. I am ready to buy bulbs and am thinking of the Philips ones that usually win the auto express tests
Looking to change the sidelights/drl/high beam and dipped
-
Guys, what have you used for the side light bulb(5w)?
-
I have used Osram night breakers dipped beam and Philips xtreme dipped beam.
The philips bulb is definitely much whiter. Osram bulb is still quite yellow. But Osram definitely shines brighter and further.
I used LED sidelight bulbs. Let me get the link...
-
LED sidelights from ultra-hids on ebay
Headlight dipped beam are Osram nightbreakers which are much better than the stock lights I had. Much brighter and light shines further on road. There is a slight blue tint to them, but they look super yellow in this pic compared to the sidelights

Bulbs ordered today

Hey guys,
New to the forum and this is my first post. Installed some new Osram Nightbreaker Unlimited bulbs on my 2012 GTI. I have nothing to compare to other than the factory Osram Standard bulbs but they make a huge difference. Especially to the side. The kerb is now much more illuminated. Would defo recommend.
Picked them up on ebay for £13.50 (pair)

Bulbs have been fitted.
Now I'm toying with doing the fog lights and also LEDs for the front indicators
-
LEDs for indicators sounds interesting...keep me updated on what you get!
