Title: Connecting back up U Joint above pedals
Post by: Lee GTI on 03 December 2011, 12:01
I had to take out the steering column the other day to fit a new ignition switch and now cant for the life of me connect back up the Universal joint above the control pedals

I can connect it back up but it does not push back in far enough to put the screw in.

Has anyone else had this problem or give me any pointers.

Thanks

LOL mate type "steering column" or "UJ connection" or even "install" under the advance search button untick all then select MK2 MK maintenance even garage you will find a wealth on knowledge as X4MGS has pointed it out that thread was only a few days old and about 10 odd post from yours?

Yeah I had a look over that the other day, a real wealth of knowledge in there.

I think I'm needing to extend the rod that comes down from the steering wheel as the uj doesnt seem to be coming up far enough on it.

Is the easiest way to do this by removing it and pulling on the end with some grips to extend it?
