Title: Timing belt help
Post by: jonrandom on 02 December 2011, 21:33
I have a 2000 AGU and im trying to change the timing belt and water pump. Ive removed the mount and the new water pump is in I just need to change the belt but I cant get it off. How do I remove the lower cover and wheel connected to the crank shaft so I can pull the belt out and put a new one on.

Im sure its obvious but its been a long day so I gave up and I will carry on with it tomorrow.

Any help pls

Do you have to remove the 19mm bolt to remove the crank timing belt pulley or is it just the 4 allen key bolts? I have removed the allen key bolts and the pulley still wont come off and the 19mm bolt is solid.

4 Allen key bolts.

No offence, but you asking pretty basic questions on a pretty complex and accurate job.

None taken, ive just never done it before and I know this is the easy bit considering ive just done the piston rings, honing the cylinder and fitted forged rods. I have removed the allen key bolts and it was still stuck on solid even with me trying levering it out. Will try again tomorrow

Tap it on each side with a hammer.  Usually loosens it up.
