Title: lowering guide

i have a 1989 137000 mile golf gl, if i were to buy some lowering springs would the old shocks/dampers be ok or wud i need to replace the whole kit? also whats the best drop for a car with 16" alloys? Dont want to faff about with rub etc! Cheers!

Change the shocks for some new gas filled ones or just buy a whole lowering kit.

Change the front top mounts while your at it for some G60 ones and only use VW ones

if your on a budget then the streetline kit from eurocarparts seems to be the budget solution the full kit comes with top mounts and bump stops but like blue said use proper vw ones.
