Title: Red oxide
Post by: AlexMozza on 01 December 2011, 19:08
Non Golf But Hey!

I have just had the doors on my Mini repaired and they have put red oxide primer on them. Is it safe to put cellulose based primers and paints on top?
Or would it just be worth rubbing down and then only priming it with standard primers?

Ta!

I would only consider red oxcide to be a transit primer, ie, only there as a cheap backup to protect from rust, while other work is being done... thats on car stuff anyway, if its something like a wrought iron gate, then just paint straight over it
