Just reading the other thread from naa and wondered what issues people have seen on a brand spanking new car from a VW forecourt? Since had 4k+ trouble free miles apart from an annoying rattle that I haven't had time to re-seat the air vents.
I'll start:-
Oil Pressure Sensor, Towed back to dealer and fixed rapidly!

My current Golf hasn't have any problems really apart from the bonnet sitting slightly out of line. The mechanic opened it, and twisted it a little. Fits perfectly now.
My previous Golf ED30 however....
On the second day of ownership, the passenger door deadlocked itself! They kept the car for almost 2 weeks and gave me a Polo whilst they fixed it. Whilst fixing it, they totally wrecked the inner door card. I got the car back, but had to wait another 2 weeks for a new door card. They also swapped over the front grill as it had a massive scratch on it from new too.
Other than that - I had no problems for the 20 months ownership until some tw@t ran into me and wrote it off!

My golf is 3 in February and dont even ask me about my issues. Its been into volkswagen several times and ive just wrote a 4 page letter to the UK Director, seriously pissed off.

I also had a slightly misaligned bonnet (and grille). Fixed quickly by the dealer. Other than a slight intermittent buzzing from the passenger side of the dashboard (I turn up the stereo volume so I can't hear the buzzing!), no problems in 5 months of ownership.

Think Sat Nav has now been fixed. I think I mentioned before that when I picked up new car I was told that the Sat Nav unit in it was faulty - the screen kept flickering. The garage ordered a new one which they fitted on Wednesday. Unfortunately, when I went to pick it up later in the day I found the screen just showed white not the colour screen and the display in front of the steering wheel didn't display navigation when it was set.
I was given a courtesy car, and to their credit, the garage fixed the problems and delivered it back to me (127 miles) today.
Other problem was the steering wheel was slightly misaligned - down on the right - which is hopefully now fixed.
Can't believe that a car can be shipped with these problems. Don't VW do quality control any more?
My very first Golf - a GT TDI - some years ago - broke down on first drive when I was 150 miles from home - the coolant hose had become detached.

I hope they brought it back on a trailer?!?
I know what I'd be doing if I had a GTI or GTD to deliver 127 miles away

Air-conditioning compressor died after 2 days, in the middle of an aussie summer  then took them 3 weeks to replace.
