As per the title... hit a tyre in the first lane on the m62 @ 65-70mph, minimal damage & for what ever reason my vr cut out and not starting so got recovered home. £150 for roughly 22miles at about 12pm last night
Can i claim of somebody for damages, recovery fee's and loss of earning. Dont seem fair im out of pocket a couple hundred quid for something that wasnt my fault
Or do i just take it on the chin?

How will you know who's tyre it was :undecided:
-
cctv?
i guess you're looking for someone driving on only three tyres?

I see what the wheel problem is here
I doubt you would find the owner of the tyre as said, would be a wild goose chase, or you could DNA that mother fooker?

My gfs dad hit a length of 4x6 while carrying 80+ in his s2000, so did a few others. He couldn't claim a penny and just had to suck it and see. In the end he claimed on his own insurance as they guaranteed a 'minor' increase next year.
-
Just abit spiffed as i taxed the car yesterday aswell
There was nobody eles around and to add insult to injury the matrix above our heads the popped up telling us theirs 'debris in road'
-
Just suck it up and pay the bill, I don't see how your going to be able to claim from anyone's insurance as you haven't the slightest idea who the tyre belonged to.
-
They would have had to have changed the tyre at the side of the road. I'm not sure if the information would be available to you but call the AA/RAC/Green Flag and see if they were called out to a road side assistance to change a wheel? Slim chance but other than CCTV you wont have a leg to stand on...

Due to data protection I doubt very much whether the AA etc would pass on any details.
Unfortunately that is what insurance is for.

If there wren't others on the road, why didn't you see it, then change lanes? A tyre's a pretty big thing not to notice in the road?
-
In the dark and at speed makes it more invisible

He must have wanted to hit it?

Black tyre.. black night and not enough thinking distance i was behind a lorry that just drifted over it :undecided:
Just unlucky i guess. Suprised nobody else hit it. End of the day only my wallet was hurt so glass half full and that!
I think it took out my fuel pump aswell  the joys lol

No personal details just if there was a call out so the OP can go through insurance for them to get the information.
-
My theory is the tyre couldnt have been their that long... so a quick spare wheel change could have take place
Cost me £195 for some trainers from trafford centre

Good point, worth a try if he is going to claim on his insurance I suppose. You can also try and phone the highways agency to see if the tyre had been reported by other motorists to narrow down the times.

If they could see the "debris" then couldn't they have a look back and see where it came from?
-
Why don't you sue the tyre manufacturer as well. If it wasn't for them the tyre would have never been there.
Then you can sure the inventor of the wheel, if it hadn't been for them tyres wouldn't be necessary.

Anyone ever thought it could have fallen out the bottom of a 106 or similar? I've seen that happen - they're in a cage under the boot floor.
As for claiming, not a chance. :nerd:
-
Just write it off as an accident and forget about it. This kind of thing happens.
-
you hit a badger, it just happend to made of rubber.
be thankfull it wasent a meatal or concrete one
-
did you get the badgers details?
-
Stupid badger managed to take out a relay and fuel pump...
Time to add a picture to the 'cock punching' thread haha
-
Tyre or Tyre and wheel?
This thread is hilarious some of the pitiful responses.
Who the hell is going to get their spare wheel on, get. The Tyre changed and then throw just the Tyre away? It's fallen off a truck or pikies have thrown it. You can't claim.
-
It wasnt a full tyre but near enough. Somebody's had a blow out and left it. On a bright note though as I was taking the fuel pump apart I notice a connectors had come loose so saved a little wedge their! :-)
-
did you get the badgers details?
Actual lol's
Was Bodger on hand aswel?
-
This happened to a friend of mine several years ago and she was told that she should have been able to avoid it and it was her problem, basicaly she was told to jog on and sort it herself !
-
Swerving suddenly at 65-70mph on a motorway is acceptable
Dodging potholes so i dont damage wheels, tyres, suspension (@ 30mph~) and police slap me with a fine.... Irony
-
Get legal advice. You could have died! A woman got fined for throwing a crisp packet put her window
-
cctv might have some insight, report it if they have a clip of someone changing their wheel and just throwing the other.
I hit a breeze block at 35 aha fort it was a bag lol
-
Just glad it wasn't worse fella, if there were a lorry steaming up behind you he wouldn't have known what had happened until it was too late.
-
If it was just a tyre it won't be someone with a flat tyre.
Unless you lot carry round a tyre machine in your spare wheel well to change the tyre?
Or do you like any other persons, change the wheel & tyre?
