Title: Throttle pedal tick when released is it normal as just started to do it?
Post by: Snoopy on 30 November 2011, 18:01
My throttle pedal seems to have developed a tick whenever i release it.
So when im in traffic as i take my foot off the accelerator pedal to press the brake it makes a tick noise.
Does anyone elses do this?

Mine does a small tick/ knock noise when i release it when changing gear, seems like its not under any sort of tension on release, it is annoying as i hear it every time, if thats the same thing

Sounds like it.
The odd thing is i have never heard it before over the past year and a half.  :undecided:
But all the way home tonight i could hear it clearly.
Only time i heard anything like it before was when you hit the stop at full throttle it makes a similar noise.
Maybe its just got louder over time and now i can hear it.

DSG or manual mate?

I get a ticking noise (once) when I put my foot on the break when the DSG is put into N.

Manual.
I know the DSG kickdown ticks , as does the manual one when you hit the stop at full throttle.
Its when im in traffic, with small throttle opening to move forward then i move my foot to the brake pedal and i hear the tick as the throttle comes back up was driving me nuts tonight as i have not heard it before.

it is quite noisy that pedal when i took alook

Mine sounds the same when you do it with your hand, but with my foot on it I can't really hear it.

Tried my wife's Lupo and it is hinged at the top, just sounds the same.

Ah! I've seen a thread on here before with this exact issue.  I'll see if I can find it.

Hum,  :undecided: I just find it Funny how it must have been so much quieter before, this morning even... that i have never heard it in 21 months of ownership. I knew it ticked from pressing it when i have cleaned the car but it must have been alot quieter tick before so that i did not hear it when driving.
Just tonight even with the radio on low, heater fan on, it was ticking away as shown in the video everytime i released the throttle.
