Something strange seems to have happened to the way my lights are working at the moment, and im pretty sure its since i had it serviced.
I recently fitted rear LED's and did not need to upgrade the BCM on my 09reg, which is very unusual. Before i had the service im sure when i put my sidelights on only they came on with the rears. With main beam on the side lights and rears came on also as expected.
It seems now when i put my sidelights only on or main beam the DRL part of the high beam is comming on, thats even if DRL's are deactivated, and the sidelights seem to be pretty dim.
I was hopeing to put some LED sidelights in and run the car on sidelights, so only they were on with the rears, but if i do that the DRL part of the high beam comes on which is the horrible yellow.
I also have Phillips Blue Vision Ultra main beam H7 bulbs which are a very good white colour, but when they are on the DRL part of the high beam is on which again is the crap yellow.
So to cut a long story short, is something coded wrong or is that how they run?

Just to add, when i deactivated my DRL's i had to indicate right and not left, as it says in the manual. Seems light everything is back to front on my car.

I had a similar problem and it was to do with the coding, can't remember the numbers off hand as I am not at home, but I think it was originally coded '4' and it needs to be coded '15' for my car. 4 was the code for 2009 cars and mine is a 2010.
Hope all this makes sense and I will send you the details later, there is a long thread on 'Vortex' on coding, if you can't wait

Thanks cant do the coding myself, so will have to wait until it goes to the dealer, or someone nearby is passing with VCDS.

Here are the coding details for cars with and without Xenons
MJ2009 with BCM (03xx software)
Encoding VCDS Byte 18 = 04
Lights go out at the tailgate opens NO
Error message MFA Rear fog lamp with Resistance: No
Problem with front parking light (weak light) NO
LED tailgate light up more when braking YES
MJ2010 with BCM from KW22/2009 (Software 0537, 0541)
Encoding Halogen VCDS Byte 18 = 15 Xenon VCDS Byte 18 = 43
Lights go out at the tailgate opens NO Update on 0575 / 6 *
Error message MFA NO Update on 0575 / 6 *
Problem with front parking light (weak light) NO Update on 0575 / 6 *
LED tailgate light up more when braking NO Update on 0575 / 6 *
With MJ2010 / BCM 2011 from KW45/2009 (0573 & 0575 Software / 0576)
Encoding Halogen VCDS Byte 18 = 15 Xenon VCDS Byte 18 = 43
Lights go out at the tailgate opens YES YES
Error message MFA NO NO
Problem with front parking light (weak light) NO NO
LED tailgate light up more when braking NO NO
Changing mine from 04 to 15 solved the problem, all lights work as intended

Thanks for that, with have to get it sorted with VCDS. Ill have to get hold of SteveP when hes next passing. I just cant have those yellow DRL's on when my normal lights are on, driving me mad

I had this problem when me and Doc fitted my LED rears, when my headlights were on the DRL's were also on and the sidelights although dim, it turned out all the known codes in VCDS were no good! But Doc sorted it out, i think it was 0001010 or something like that  I'm sure super doc will be along soon with a confirmation.

funny you should mention about the rear LED's it probably started just after i fitted mine about a month ago. SteveP was a legend helping me with the coding, but we didnt notice at the time about the DRL's
I emailed OSRAM the other day about them making an upgraded H15 bulb, response was there are no plans, gutted. Will need to get these non OEM xenons asap

Haha! yeah we were the same! we were so pre occupied with the rears working without the bulb out warning that we never bothered to check the fronts, i noticed the reflection in a car on the drive home from Doc's but bless his cottons he sorted it out the next day!

Hopefully i will be doing the same soon.

Doc,
do you know what needs to be done with the coding, i might have to take the car in, cant get hold of SteveP at the mo. Cant take much more of these stupid DRL's comming on with all my lights all the time even though i have deactivated them, and im sure the garage wont have a clue what coding to do to sort it out.

probably being a bit dense here...side lights? They the same are the front parking lights?
Now that I read this post, I've just checked and my front part lights and they don't seem to come on anymore...guess I need to change the same 04 code to 15...
