Well at long last my lights arrived after 4 weeks but to be honest they were worth the wait!
They are a very sold unit for replicas and build quality is no different to the quality of my OEM Halogen housings. Everything fitted nicely and I am over the moon with them.
Anyways the job was done by myself, I started at 08:30 this morning and was all done by 10:00. All i need was my torx bits, ratchet, and as someone else said....... a brain! oh and VagCom.
I have fitted my 6000K H7 bulbs from my xenons. Although the description says it’s a D2H bulb a H7 bulb also fits so no need to try find someone who sells a D2H bulb!

-
Blimey that was quick! is it wierd that the car looks "happier"??? I reckon there will be a few more sold now.
-
Wow, they look superb mate.
Jim
-
they look ace - very OEM - can we have a shot with the indicators on?
-
They look great, did you have to do the coding?
Think these are definately my next purchase.
-
Ooh, me likey.
Lots
-
Kenny, what bulbs came with the lights, and where did you get 6000K H7 bulbs from.
-
Thanks everyone! Over the moon with them
Will get a pick tonight Doc no probs.
Paul, only had to tick the xenons fitted opition. On byte 18 I had 00010101 as the code when I installed my Golf R rear lights and seems to work fine. It is D2S type bulbs 5000k but far too white for the bluer LEDs so put my 6000k h7 bulb in, it fitted perfectly :-)
-
These are the ones Paul

Kenny thanks, these are defiately on my new year to buy list. Do you think you will have to get the lights lined up at a garage.
Are you going to do some night time shots with high and low beam and indicators on.

More pics here

-
Looking very good.
I take it these are not Bi-Xenons with a shutter on the dipped beam?
-
from what i read before they are bi xenon with shutter, the inner light is really an extra light to work in conjuction with the bi xenon on high beam, so even more light
-
Na, they are not bi xenon. Other projector is the high beam ( H1 bulb )
-
Thats a shame, what bulb is fitted to the high beam light
-
H1 bulb in high beam
-
can you get a 6000K bulb to match everything else, or is the light output ok
-
Well for waht its worth I think they look spot on, very oem and a great modification, well done Dude
-
Nice one Kenny the lights look brilliant.
Can you post a shopping list with links of the lights and bulbs etc required.
I feel a group buy coming on.
-
I have the link to the company that can supply them on my favourites on my laptop at home, but here is the response i got when i asked about costing,
Dear Paul,
Good day !
I hope your everything is going best !
For 1 set ship to UK :
Product cost :468$
Shipping cost :242$(not remote price)
Total cost (Western Union/TT):468+242=710$
Paypal fee:29$
Paypal total cost:710+29=739$
Thank you very much !
Not a bad price £435 on todays exchange rates, especially if it was a group buy, that would bring the delivery down
-
I just found the link somebody else posted on another thread for the company that supply these lights, Amy is the one thats seems to do all the answering to questions,
http://www.wphidled.com/sdp/1363324/4/pd-5818148/9073428-2335434/OME_HID_headlight_kit_for_golf_6.html#normal_img
-
Parts & Tools I used:
* Replica Headlights
http://www.dnauto.co.uk/Golf_MK6_Xenon_Headlights_RHD/p912216_4682166.aspx
* H7 6000K Xenon Kit Bulbs ( Not needed to fit headlights, just the 5000K bulbs supplied looked too white in my opinion)
http://www.hids4u.co.uk/Replacement-H7-Xenon-HID-Bulb-for-HIDS4U-HID-Conversion-Kits.html
* VagCom - To do a wee bit of coding although it seems every car is different?
Tools
* Ratchet
* Torx Bit (T25 i think!)
* Allen Keys
Think thats i folks!
-
Sounds good - you could put H1 HID's in the main beam and have old skool bi-xenons ala phaeton
Any chance of a pic of a night shining onto a wall at around 2 meters?
-
The websight that supply these lights state 4300K 6000K or 8000K bulb for main beam, so i guess you could choose which bulb you wanted when you ordered, that would save some more money.
-
Will try tonight for a pic of the cut off. Cut off seems good, but probably not as much as OEM, when coming towards traffic you can see the cut off about 6 inches above the reggy plate?
6000K they supply is very white on these, more like 5000K, where as the LEDs are more 6000K. So I changed it out for my 6000: bulb from Hids4u.
Not too fussed about the high beam, no one ever see's it. Plus cant be too good for flashing people in a rage!
-
Sounds good - you could put H1 HID's in the main beam and have old skool bi-xenons ala phaeton
Aftermarket HID's are no good for main beam due to the warm up time they need, unless you know of any decent kits that are at full power the instant you turn them on.
-
Oh ok, so would definately need to get better bulbs to match the LED's,
Will you need to get the light beams lined up by a garage?
-
So if you needed to improve the high beam probably best getting some, H1 Osram nightbreaker plus or Phillips Ultra vision depending on how good the supplied ones are.
-
Okay, I'm a bit late on the scene as I've been a busy bunny lately, but 'wow' they look really good Kenny.
Wish I'd kept my silver one now and fitted a set of those!!
-
Buy another GTI then
Took some more pics, please bare in mind its my camera phone and it really doesn't do the lights too much justice compared to seeing them in the flesh!

That looks like a pretty accurate beam, will they need lining up at the garage at all

Are they legal? I read earlier about levelling and washers or isn't that required?

Who cares! Live life on the edge
-
I think as they are not true xenons they do not need the washers and leveller, but whos gonna check as long as the beam hits the MOT test
-
oh very very nice!
-
I think as they are not true xenons they do not need the washers and leveller, but whos gonna check as long as the beam hits the MOT test
Hopefully the tester will, as all HID/Xenons will need self levellers and washers from March(?) 2012 to pass an MOT.
-

I'm sure quite a few will go un-noticed
-
Undoubtedly they will, the ones fitted above on Kenny's GIT look pretty good, it's the nobbers with the beam scatter everywhere and daft 6000k+ bulbs that ruin it.
-
You mention about levellers and washers from March 2012, is that cars registered from that date that the law will apply, or will all cars have to have them fitted on earlier reg's, if they have not already got them
-
IIRC it's cars before that date. I think all factory fits had washers and self levellers as standard, and now the MOT from 2012 is taking this in to account on aftermarket installs.
It's the same with Decat/DPF removals, if your car rolled out of the factory with one on, then it needs to be present at MOT time (or at least the container for it does).
Of course, a lot of mk6 chaps still have roughly a year or two grace on this what with not needing an MOT for first 3 years.
-
Hmmm, not so sure about DPF removals (stolen from another forum)
Here is the 2012 MOT Testers Manual
http://www.dft.gov.uk/vosa/repository/MOT%20Inspection%20Manual.pdf (http://www.dft.gov.uk/vosa/repository/MOT%20Inspection%20Manual.pdf)
DPF Delete is.............................. LEGAL aslong as can pass smoke test
Diesel Smoke test rule change
After 6 free accelerations, the mean of the last 3 smoke levels is:
a.
for vehicles first used on or after 1 July 2008, more than 1.5m-1 for both turbocharged and non-turbocharged engines
b.
for vehicles first used before 1 July 2008:
for a non-turbocharged engine, more than 2.50m-1
for turbocharged engines more than 3.00m-1.
-
Thanks for that manual, from what i make of the headlight levelling and washing it is not a legal requirement only that if fitted they must work, below is the extract
Vehicles equipped with High Intensity Discharge (HID) or LED dipped beam headlamps may be fitted with headlamp washers and a suspension or headlamp self levelling system.
Where such systems are fitted, they must work; however, it is accepted that it may not be possible to readily determine the functioning of self levelling systems. In such cases, the benefit of the doubt must be given.
-
Kenny,
Now you have had the lights on for abit, how are they performing. Any problems with alignment or flickering. Im just planning ahead for the new year to hopefully get some.
-
Only issue is I am going out pointless runs in the car with them to show them off!
They have been great Paul! I love them, no issues at all, oh just one actually! Had to replace an indicator, one of them went out so got some new ones which worked out fine as I bought some new white bulbs for my reggy plate off the same supplier!
The sidelights/LEDs are extremely bright, that was a concern from me as I have seen a few puntos, corsas, etc with aftermarket drls headlights and they look pathetic like a bead off wee blue LEDs along the front of the headlight! But with mine they have properly fitted an LED in each slot and wired it up got each one, and it's a proper big and bright LED! Hope that makes sense as I am just up
-
Tnaks Kenny, pretty sur ill be getting some of these once xmas is out of the way,
did you need to get them lined up at a garage or were they set correct?
-
No, cut off is pretty good mate. Good light output and no one has flashed me
-
Hi Kenny,
Just saw you got your lights. I was the guy who posted the review of my lights here in Australia. Looks great mate!
I have had mine now for 4 months and they are still going strong. Have you managed to code them so they are true DRL's?
-
Dont think you will be able to code them as the DRLs bulb on the halogen lights use the same bulb as the full beam, so the LEDs would be the full beam.
Think it is a matter of hard wiring to get it to work and am not too bothered about that.
-
Sorry mate it wasnt a question whether "if" it was more "have you". You can code the park lights to be DRL's. And I have done this.
You might wanna visit my thread here:
http://www.vwgolf.net.au/showthread.php?6474-Product-Review-Replica-OEM-HID-Headlamps-for-halogen-cars
-
Sounds good, but not sure i want to lose the use of my sidelights
-
These headlights look amazing! Have you ever compared them side by side with an OEM xenon car? The rear lights look equally awesome!!
-
Thanks mate. Still over the moon with them. Never compared them with OEM xenons and the rear lights are the OEM Golf R lights
-
Chuffed its all worked out on these, what a superb mod at a fraction of the cost of oem.
-
Very nice - What's the deal with driving in Europe with these? I assume you can't alter with the MFD like the factory option? Is there a leaver or anything to alter the beam direction? Or would you have to use the deflector stickers? And does the dial still work that alters the vertical throw (for when you have a lot of weight in the back for example)?
-
Clicked on that website they don't have any rhd in stock has any one else did this to there cars?
You fancy a road trip threw to Glasgow kenny  and share your talent haha
-
I havn't done these yet but really fancy a set. Maybe soon.
-
No worries mate just let me know if you need a helping hand! Got VagCom also for coding required!
Now managed to get the LEDs working as proper DRLs and changed the bulbs back to the ones it came with, more OEM looking and better cut off! Still lovin these!

I really like these lights haha, how long did it take for these lights to be delivered am I better emailing this company to see if they will get rhd in any time soon
-
Had a bit of issue with mine being delivered. Guy said they got stuck at customs at Heathrow so took about a month! Worth the wait in the end!

Kenny, you must be the only person with these lights that has got the LEDs working a proper DRLs, well done mate that must have taken some messing around with the coding
-
Can't take credit for it, it was our Aussie friends that worked it out  I just copied them. Only had to change 3 settings on vagcom and that was me.
-
Kenny,
really glad you got that sorted, makes me want them even more now. If i keep my GTI ill be getting those lights, will know in the next month or so.

I can't recommend them enough Paul. Totally change the look of the car!

Hi Kenny, I have recently bought a 59 GTD and have ordered both the OEM R rear LED's and
the front xenon light that you have installed (waiting in customs).
If I remember correctly you have an 09 GTI so probably have the same BCM as me (software 05xx)
I would appreciate it if you could let me know what codes you used for both rear and front lights.
Thanks,
Tim
-
Hi tims,
My GTI is a 10 plate. To get these to work they are simply plug in and play apart from disabling the DRLs. If you want the LEDs to work as DRLs you will need VagCom to change a couple of things.
-
Ok, thanks.
I don't have VagCom, I am hoping someone nearby will be able to help me out with that
So both front and rear lights will work after install but I need to change some codes via VagCom.
For: Rear LED bulb out error, Front lights (change to xenon code?, and make the LED's work as DRL's)
Do you have the codes to do this? Thanks
-
where did you get these from? ive been looking everywhere for some drl's with xenon light, but the factory bixenons are sooooo damn expnsive with the auto levelling as well.
Please tell me where these are from?
-
Hi Kenny, Where did you buy the headlights from and were they right hand drive versions? Many thanks, John
-
RE: Last two posts.
I ended up buying the same ones as Kenneth, from a supplier in China. They aren't OEM's, of course, but do work a treat.
However, you can buy OEM ones with/without auto-levelling from a European supplier

Sorry Rafa, I haven't taken piccies yet, but they are exactly the same as Kenneths (see page 1). I took his advice and replaced the dipped headlights for HID including housing etc etc, only the full beam are the normal (yellow-ish) bulbs. Per Kenneths instructions I had to also code them in correctly via VAGCOM/VCDS. I really like them as they are different to the usual (very bright) LED DRL's which you see on the road, as these are less bright and have a blue-ish effect, and I don't use them as sidelights either...........so different to the norm, which is what I like, not to mention the positive comments received.
Unfortunately, they might be up for sale as I am considering selling my GiT (and therefore reverting back to standard) due to changes regarding work relocation.....may have to go for company car rather than continuing accepting the allowance.
Anyhoo, I have all the original documents and had them installed last summer (not even a year old), so if anyone is interested in buying these then please PM me

Hey Mick, its not concrete yet as I'm still trying to get out of having to sell my baby.
My options are dieseasels i.e. 2l Mondeos/Insignias/Mazda 6 etc etc, or petrol 1.6l Focus/Golfs etc.
No offence Mike, but I have always resisted dieseasels until I have no other option.
With regards to my headlights, I am happy to listen to offers....

Hey, I am fairly new to the forum, but I am looking at getting the replica Xenon headlights for my CW GTI. What sort of monies are you hoping to achieve? It could be perfect timing for us both
